I've watched people doing it like mad and agreed, they do't get much farther ahead. the only times I've done it is when someones being a douche and going the same speed in the fast lane as the car in the slow lane (but a bit farther ahead and with a big enough gap), and there noone ahead of either of them. if it's thick traffic theres no point.
