oh time to whore up my own thread...

the last two evenings consisted of alot of drilling...

last night as i was taking off my exhaust manifold to fix a snaped stud in the head... of course.. my manifold to turbo bolt snaps off in the turbo...
so i got out the one in the head easily as ever, then the turbo bolt.. stainless steel 10mm bolt... took forever with the die grinder, dremel, drill, torch.. etc etc

but at least now, no more exhaust leaks under the hood

Installed a A/F gauge to a pillar for a buddy and also remounted his boost gauge to the pillar. Install went clean and good. Next up, my box on wheels tomorrow

Mod of the day:
Tested out the sub box today.... oh fuck yeah.. this thing sounds wicked. Still have to finish it and carpet it up. Other than that its sounds killer. I dont have my Alpine amp hooked up to it either. Right now just have a 2 channel amp I had layin around its rated at 50w x 2 rms its only about 5 or 6" in size and 3" deep. I have it running 3channels (front speakers and the sub running off the bridged terminals) and its enough to kick pretty hard. cant wait to feed it 558rms!!!

Finally got my front lip back on yesterday (took it off for my VI so it'd look higher), also put a chrome doorhandle on the pass. side as well (was running chrome on the left and black on the right for a year or so). What else...oh yeah...my clear tails are back on as well...(took'em off for the VI)...finally back to looking like my truck

Took one of my drums off to find out a spring snapped and FUCKED my whole drum brake assembly...

Bent shoe that dug a gouge into the drum, tore the wheel cylinder apart, and snapped the adjusting wheel.

I'm lucky the drum didn't blow apart on me.

Interested in a trade?

I think I found somewhere that does decent price rebuilds.

Or I can just find out the place that does it for you

I can rebuild it myself it's easy. It's the rebalancing that is needed which not many places that rebuild turbos do. I'm looking into a ball bearing turbo i think

If it's just a seal that needs to be replaced, then it's real easy to pick up a rebuild kit, pull it apart and replace the seals/bearings.
Just take a look at the compressor nut. If it's ground down a bit then you can tell it was balanced as an assembly and you can just mark the nuts/wheels so you put them back exactly as you took them off. Meaning it'll still be balanced. If the nut isn't ground down at all, then usually that means that they've been balanced individually so they should be good to go back on whatever way.
The hardest part is removing the exhaust housing without snapping the bolts off. The torch is your friend!

Balancing is pretty cheap anyways if you know a place to get it done. It's shipping that costs the most if there's no local place.

don't get to excited just yet, before you plame the turbo just do a couple of checks first if you haven't already , check your oil return line make sure you have good return flow (restricted or blocked) and also that your not pressurizing the crankcase either these can cause oil back up give this symptom seen it alot , hope this helps you if the turbo does need attention leave it to a professional turbo builder with all the wright equipment and tools we don't even fuck with them not worth it get it done wright we have a reputable turbo shop do all ours if you need don't hesitate to call me at the shop i'll get you in contact with them.

w00t....H4 conversion done for my truck Forgot to put the freaking dust-boot on one, though, so I gotta rip it all apart...gonna do it when my grille gets here

*sigh* and now I found a diamond cut H4 kit for 30 US which seems RIDICULOUSLY low....so I'm thinking it's either 30 each or it's shitty quality

Shitty repair

I found this about 2 weeks ago, gotta fix it, but no welder down here, so I'll have to devise another scheme. It's in the passenger footwell...of my 240sx
