New to photography...was playing around with aperture and macro settings in the backyard this afternoon.


Lucked out and caught this little sucker

This camera stuff is addicting, I spent hours playing around with different modes and functions. BTW, camera is a Canon Powershot A85.

HyperREV-You take some amazing pictures. Do you use a tripod for pics when you slow down the shutter speed? I tried 10 and 15 sec shutter speeds without a tripod tonight, and the pics revealed my unsteady hands.

you need a tripod.

ive got your camera's older brother. the A80. will be upgrading to HyperREV's camera's little brother soon tho

Thanks for the compliments. I always thought photography was "find somthing cool, and 'click'", but after reading through this thread and experimenting, I'm amazed at how much work (angles, camera settings, lighting etc) goes into a great shot. So much to learn!

im diggin that first one, nice work!

usually i'll use a tripod for anything under 1/30th of a second, its a must.

Well here is a picture I took whilst on the drive back from Van in some park on like bobs road between Hope and Van. I thought it looked liek a nice shot but keep in mind I have an 88$ camera not 800.

I have a question for you guys. I have to enter a flower photo into the Armstrong IPE, but I can't decide which to use. Of the 4 pics below, which should I enter? Keep in mind the picture can be 5x7 min, 8x12 max.
