Hardwar Sweets on Fraser and 51stish (might be further, I usually just drive there and look for the sign.. its opposite blockbuster), I always get it from them for events I put on and people are always loving them.
I can't remember how much they are exactly but I recall getting 50 for $12 usually but I could be wrong.

Went to Calgary Sweets based on this thread. 45 cents each, so 15 for 6.75$ with some red sauce. They only have vegitarian. Tasty! A bit greasy, but they were still warm from being cooked, yum. Too spicy for me. Typical white person, I think it'd be good with ranch or tzatziki |

I live near Hardawar, so Ive tried a few. Hardawar has a good crust (usually), but their filling is a little plain (but not oily, so that's good). Tandoori Nights has good filling in their Samosas, but the crust is a touch thick.
I kinda like the samosa and channa at the himalaya. There food is nothing great (kinda dirty really), but their samosas are good when you dip them in the channa, and eat it with the onions.
Note: I am only referring to *veg* samosas, since I don't dine on swine (or beef or chicken).

| Quote: Originally posted by AckXchange hardawar are preety oily, the fillign sucks, its sooo plain.. i was expecting maybe mroe spicy and some peas | Yeah, once I had a batch that was too oily. Maybe the oil wasn't hot enough or the samosas sat too long. I haven't had any more there since. I need to lay off the fried shit.
Quality varies sometimes. One time I got some fresh pakoras from tandoori nights that were good, but once I ordered some and they came overcooked and soaking in oil... what are you going to do.
2 places that I've had good experiences at are House of Dosas (kingsway and knight) and Nooru Mahal (Fraser and 23rd?). They are both sri-lankan, and are both excellent for quality and consistency. I think nooru mahal uses a little msg, but I haven't gotten a hint of any at house of dosas (I get a funny reaction to the stuff sometimes). Both places make *excellent dosa (an indian crepe). Nooru Mahal makes it a bit thinner (which is better), however HOD has better sambar and Mango Lassi. Also, the Thali (dinner set) at HOD is excellent, both meat and veg.
For more punjabi type foor, I would recomment Tandoori King (Fraser and marine), as well as rubina (but they are pricey tho. Also their tandoori chicken is somewhat dry... a big no-no). Just down the road is a place called The Tandoori Chat House (I think that's what it's called). I've been there once, food was good. My wife's cousins (he's white, she's east indian) are *seriously* wealthy, but when they cater a party, they have the Chat House do it. I think that says something about their quality and consistency.
