The author of that article (Andy Lynes) said that he didn't want to just compile another list with restaurants like "El Bulli" on it, so he chose 10 restaurants that people should try out. Still some very famous ones on the list, though.

Nothing too special. I went there during Dine Out Vancouver. Maybe that's why, lol. Very good service though.

I went, pretty much what you'd expect from a fine dining establishment.

^That's awesome that you stage there! I'm staging at Feenie's right now, under the pastry chef...just sometimes, b/c I have another job already.
The Dine Out menu I had at West this year was great, especially the appetizers. Chef Hawksworth sent out a few really great amuses too--like this red kuri squash risotto. Awesome. The veal breast wasn't super tender, but the crispy polenta was amazing! This dish reminds me of a dish from The French Laundry...I know that someone in the kitchen used to work there, so perhaps it was his take on the FL dish?

I had the best meal of my life at west, and i've eaten all over (wendys, mcDs, quiznos, subway, all the big ones).
the pasta from their last menu (september-ish) was the best i've ever had, seriously unparalled. i live in london and have gone to a few major ones here (claridges, 15, adessos) and none have been as good as that pasta.
BUT that being said, pho is better !

INiTiAL00 where did you go to culinary school? Where else you working?
David hawksworth came by and did a presentation at vcc. It was pretty neat to hear him speak.

lol i just got finished working at the river rock. I hated it there.
Was there for like a month. I probably hated it b/c I was up at the buffet.
Do you know a guy named Ben? He used to work at the buffet.

I've gone in a pair of jeans, tshirt and a sports jacket so I'd say smart casual to formal.

Haven't gone to West in 3 years, but I must say that yes the service is impeccable, and in my experiences so is the food.
