Rebalanced & reallocated few weeks ago. Here are 3 LT ports I recently built. Not too bad so far. My tech exposure is very small right now.

Still have SPY and QQQ 2017 puts as swing. Down pretty big though lol. Ok for those to expire worthless if comes to that.

with the year winding down, how has everyone done for 2016?

I've been very much a "couch potato" for the majority of the year, sitting back on a meaty dividend stream. Jan to now has been great...gains in the high teens, but if you net that against a somewhat shitty 2015 it's nothing spectacular. no drama (good or bad) is good in my books though.

Doing extremely well on marijuana stocks this year. Debated getting in on Canopy when it was in the $3's. Decided I'd just stay put on what I had and not bet the farm. Boy was that a bad decision. Anybody who got in then or before made a killing a few weeks ago.

I invested around $23K in MJN (Pharmacan), watched it drop to around $6K (gulp), eventually sold it for $40K There' still a possibility to make money with marijuana stocks but it's such a gamble.

Does anybody have a favourite dividend ETF? Not looking for anything extravagant, just looking to dump $10k into a single-serve ETF to generate 3-3.5% with a decent level of comfort that the dividend is sustainable. We opted to split the yearly bonus into a mortgage lump sum and into this specific investment contribution since our rate is so low but capital preservation is important on this piece.

Merry Christmas,
Mark

You can buy the Dogs of the Dow, weigh your basket yourself. These are blue chips so pretty stable and can yield div anywhere from 3-4%+ each. They are also liquid. Below are next year dogs.

Company Ticker Div yield %
Verizon VZ 4.31
Pfizer PFE 3.96
Chevron CVX 3.64
Boeing BA 3.61
Cisco CSCO 3.41
Coca-cola KO 3.37
IBM IBM 3.35
Exxon Mobil XOM 3.3
Caterpillar CAT 3.27
P&G PG 3.17
Merck MRK 3.16
McDonald's MCD 3.04
General Electric GE 3.02
Walmart WMT 2.87
Intel INTC 2.82

If you must buy ETF, there are $SDY and a few others. As with any ETF, make sure you read the prospectus to understand its structure. Generally the larger value of assets it holds the better.

lol, up 700% on them. Waiting for the driving processor and 10xx series hype to die down and for them to come back to earth. If I were to invest real money, I'd be looking at the self driving car companies, or at least keeping track of them.

Oil is still doing horrid. Losses on those are like -50%, so it ain't all sunshine and rainbows.

Been on the AMD train for awhile. Bought in around $4.70, look where it's at now.

Investors know the new products are competitive. However with the Q4 earnings coming up close and AMD expected to be at a loss again, it may depend more on Q1 guidance. At this point I believe as long as Q4 earnings exceed Q3 guidance it may spike back up over $12, or if Lisa Su drops the bomb on the alleged Intel licensing deal we'll be seeing the stock explode.

But aside from all that, if AMD were to just win back a mere 10% of server market share, I don't see how AMD stock wouldn't double again based on the revenue it would bring in at higher margins too. Assuming Vega is as good as the current engineering benchmarks show, it could easily steal quite a bit of market share as far as GPUs go.

I'll probably be making another big investment in the stock very very soon while it's still below $12.

sooo i discover speculation with options... why do anyone go to the casino when you can do this lol.

in all serious i think both AMD and NVDA is over value as fuck. currently shorting till they come back down to a reasonable level to take a long position
