you mean shaving the side panels?

have to bondo it, repaint, etc.. but they you have to worry about parking lots and people slamming their doors into your car causing never ending scratches.

only way to do it to make it last is to weld strips of steel in, then grind it down to shape, bodyfiller, prep, etc. too much work for somthing that doesnt look all that great. if you have an 86.5 to 88, buy some 89-92 style side mouldings, they are thinner, and if you paint them bodycolor you wont even notice them.

www.supramania.com or www.supraforums.com , both have for sale sections. theres also online junkyards (noone local has supra stuff, and if they do, its generally crap), the Buy Sell and Trade that they sell at gas stations, etc.

About the only choice you have is to replace it with some moulding that is in decent shape, otherwise like you said you will have to strip the old stuff off and refill it which is going to look bad in the end anyways.

ok time for scare time

all new molding for our cars is drum roll plz about 1500 bucsk for it and the 86 to 88 modling is the most exp but i don't remmber if the 86 stuff is 1500 or the 89 molding

as for shaven side modles the only way is welding or it will look like ass taken it all off lookes liek as as well

the other + of 89-92 mouldings is they are plastic backed, not metal backed, so they will never rust and deform like the 86.5-88 mouldings.

colormatched 89-92 mouldings are on my list of things to save for. already have an 89-92 wing, just need the tails and the mouldings.... oh ya, and maybe get rid of the damn sawblades haha

why not just paint match the moldings you have already?

my car came with color matched moldings from the factory and i love it, i think they should have made more this way. but i think it was just for the white package cars....
