Heres one thing I really wanted to work. 
If it was overcast, It would have been easy to expose for both. I shot in raw, and i kinda want to merge it to hdr. But everytime I do, the sky gets blown out and junk. I'm so confused 
(hdr not for this image. Sky is blown out already :P)

Don't rely on Photoshop's HDR tool. You need to do it manually. Take a bunch of shots metering for the sky, highlights, shadows, etc, then combine then in layers.

you could also invest in a GND filter since you've got so much $$ to throw around...
