here's my cat & some kittens my parents gave away to the local animal shelter in Vancouver somewhere they said their were getting out of control and too big..
the kitten's kept pee'ing in the shoe closet using it as a litter box (pee'd in one of my shoe's,grrr ) and on the couches so they decided to give them to the SPCA,i talked to the lady & she said they were taken ASAP with people fighting for them,i miss them all dearly.
here's the mother cat, about 4+? in human years i just called her "kitty" so that's what her name is and she would come to me
then she met a Himalayan cat & had kittens
this is weasel,it was a name we used as joke, but it ended up being the real name lol!
this is MEMSY,her lil happy smirk
didn't have a name for this kitten, they would just all come to me & wrestle each other on my lap when i spent time with them, this cat was my favorite, you would put it with the other cat's and it would still want to sleep by your arm on the bed, really affectionate.
then this is another kitten alll happy when i spent time with it,it was taken in the car garage having fun crawling on the boxes with its sister's and brother.
to think I'll never see these kitten's again, makes me sad....*tear*

You must go to the wrong dog parks, I see Westies all the time at Clayton. I think there's a Westie meetup group that goes there sometimes.

So, a neighbor of ours is known as the neighborhood "dog lady" - she would regularly doggie-sit for friends in the area. She's been fostering a few the last couple years, but been without a permanent doggie for some time. Then a month or so ago, she answered an ad on Craigslist for someone looking for a new home for their dog. The woman showed up and just dumped off this scruffy little thing along with a few accessories, and was on her way.
A week later our neighbor had a medical emergency that landed her in hospital, so another lady in her building took the new dog in, but because their strata has a one-pet limit, she knew she wouldn't be able to keep her for long.
When we found out the "dog lady" was going to be moving to stay with her parents on the island and wouldn't be able to take the dog with, we offered to make her a part of the Team Mini-Mutts pack...
So with no further ado... this is MINNIE!
We believe she's a chihuahua/Yorkie mix, told she's about 5. She appears to have had one or two litters in the past. First thing to do will be to get all her shots tomorrow, then when we get the money together, she gets spayed, and she has a serious need of a teeth cleaning.
She's now in her fourth home in a month, but hopefully this is her final stop - she's bonding nicely with the entire pack and settling right through her first few days.

This is Mona, i've posted her pic in the Photography forum before but this is probably the more appropriate place.
Mona is from a breeder in Texas, she flew 10 hours and didn't even wet her kennel when we first got her. Before we adopted her, the breeder advised us that she was missing her tail cause her mother accidentally bit it off thinking it was the umbilical cord. When she arrived and we let her out of her kennel, we realized she had more than a missing tail. Her elbow was permanently displaced and after numerous visits to vets, we realized there was nothing that anyone can do to fix it. One year later, she may be the fastest "3" legged shihtzu i've ever seen. Boxes no problem, mini steps no problem, i'm even thinking of putting her in a small dog agility class. Although it was painful in the beginning to realize she may never walk on four legs, we are reminded every day that she is even more awesome on three. |

She gets around the only way she's ever known how, and that's all that matters; she doesn't look at other dogs running on four legs and think there's something wrong with her.
I see dogs all the time that have some sort of... what we would consider a "disability"... as long as they can do what they love doing, they don't know the difference. Sure if it's a recent injury, it can take some time to adjust, but that's all it is - adjusting to a new way of doing something.
We met a woman a while back who had a chubby little Shih-Tzu who's back end was on one of those little carts (doggie wheelchair). She told us how he'd been hit by a car and spend over 8 months immobilized with a broken back... to this day he has no use of his back end... but when he was allowed to move around again and got his little cart, she said, he was the happiest dog you'd ever seen. Didn't matter that his back legs didn't work - he was mobile again and could get outside and toddle around in the sunshine, and that was all that mattered.

I totally agree, sometimes we project our feelings and create these voices and feelings for our animals.
It's pretty amazing how Mona has adapted to her surroundings. The other day she walked up normal steps by herself and I was so proud. Nothing seems to slow her down.
