we got to see the mother, but what if we watched all 9 seasons and it ended with us only seeing the body of the mother(back) and ted walking off. the writers trolling everyone who watched to see the mother haha

BRILLIANT.

I always wondered how Ted could talk about all those random chicks he's banged (banged...a bangity banged) over the years to his kids and NOT TELL THEM HOW HE MET THEIR MOTHER.

Just caught the first two episodes (hour long special tonight).

Spoiler!

All in all, I'm looking forward to this season. Hopefully they won't pull a Dexter and it'll be more like Breaking Bad. lol

I don't know what episodes you watched, but I thought the season premiere was awful. If there wasn't a laugh track on the show, it would be a boring drama.

Some lame joke about gypsies. The try-hard receptionist with his weak jokes. The crap about removing a picture from a wall. The stereotypical angry black woman, which they somehow managed to screw up as well.

Spoilers much?

I thought the premiere was ok.... not the greatest material - but I think I'll like the new girl!

Honestly, I've invested so much time into this bloody show - that I just want to know how it's going to end.

No kidding. I was just waiting for the episodes to end. All the jokes were cringe worthy. This is going to be another Dexter.

That's how HIMYM has been from the beginning. It's what makes the series so cohesive. There are things that happen in earlier seasons that still happen in the present.

Legend...WAIT FOR IT...

Hah anybody catch a quick Katie Holmes cameo as the slutty pumpkin on the rooftop for no apparent reason?

God the show is tedious to watch why do I put myself through it.

It was awesome. They wrapped it all up. I loved that they went so many years into the future. There's no wondering. It's over and it ended well. I loved it...and I totally didn't cry.

Spoiler!

I agree. It had elements of the seasons before the latest filler seasons (subjective opinion of course) which added realism and emotion. The finale wasn't huge but it definitely tied everything nicely and reminded me of why I liked this show in the first place.

i want to know how she got sick, would've made it more dramatic for me(more than it already was).

but I kinda figured that this would be the outcome for a loooong time...why else would he be telling his kids at the end of each episode? I just always thought that it would have been robin who passed.

I think the show should have ended with the shot of Ted and Tracy talking under the umbrella, as the train rolled by. The last three minutes of the show was unnecessary and, frankly, was a final screw you. I know everyone expected the final outcome, but it would have been nice if that love triangle was true and fully buried. It would have been more in keeping with the general feel of the show the last while, especially since the writers are so good at those touching episodes. That said, I do like how they came full circle back to the first episode with that damn blue french horn.
