Yea, I've watched all 4 seasons. It's such an underrated show. Stringer Bell and Omar are great characters. Youtube has some good clips, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20G17K_0ghU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WP-lrftLQaQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwOqbOuIXmo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyBf8klG4BM |

It's crazy how this show didn't get another season, the show wasn't getting enough viewers while it was on, then people realize it's great when it's cancelled. |
canceled? it ended i thought, everyone tuned in to the Wire and it was rated as the best show ever made |
It wasn't cancelled. The story had come to an end. The writers of The Wire knew roughly what topics they wanted to cover and the story they wanted to present. Unlike most other shows, The Wire knew how to end on a high note, instead of dragging on (EG: Smallville). |
"Despite the critical acclaim, The Wire received poor Nielsen ratings, which Simon attributed to the complexity of the plot; a poor time slot; heavy use of esoteric slang, particularly among the gangster characters; and a predominantly black cast.[65] Critics felt the show was testing the attention span of its audience and felt that it was mistimed in the wake of the launch of the successful crime drama The Shield on FX.[64] However, anticipation for a release of the first season on DVD was high at Entertainment Weekly.[66]" "At the close of the third season, The Wire still struggled to maintain its ratings and the show faced possible cancellation.[70] Creator David Simon blamed the show's low ratings in part on its competition against Desperate Housewives and worried that expectations for HBO dramas had changed following the success of The Sopranos.[71]" The show did not get viewers until after the fact the show ended. It was like Oz, followed more once it went to DVD than when it was actually on. |
that's a shame considering all the garbage on tv these days |
|
^I remember first watching that scene. I couldn't understand half of what Snoop was saying. I think I've watched that scene over 5-6 times, and I finally understand about 85% of it. |

but kept hearing from ppl who've watched it that it was the best, most realistic show (about its subjects) ever so we gave the dvds a try and wow.... its literally the best drama series ive seen ever... and the similarities that we have here are amazing I think thats part of the appeal of the show, even though its about Baltimore it relates with everyone the parallels are easily seen |
one of the best shows ever made |
Omar is one of the best characters on the show!!! |
The show had crazy quality. In fact one of the actors on the show was the former mayor of Baltimore. The show had a number of ex-police from the Baltimore PD, in addition to ex city officials. It was crazy how accurate the show was to the city of Baltimore, there has never been a show with that much quality. |
