why anyone tell me why people play golf and drink beer?

i was just at pitch and putt, the group in front of me was drinking (got caught) and the group behind me was drinking and holding a plastic bag full of beer..

wat's the rationale behind this? i thought golf was a elite sport.

the ultimate warm weather sport is golfing, the ultimate warm weather beverage is beer. need i say more? in all seriousness, though... you're right golf is considered an elitist sport, and if you're elite, you should know how to control your liquor intake. there's a huge difference between a few social beers and getting fucking shitfaced before the turn. people who pay $15 to hack it up are more likely to be smuggling beer and getting loaded than the group who pays $150+ for a round.

most pitch and putts dont allow you to bring beer on the course because its a family oriented place, most larger courses don't allow you to bring beer because they want to sell it to you either off their carts or in their clubhouse.

i haven't played golf in about 3 months. for some reason, i've lost the urge to play.

last time I played Greywolf with my uncle and a couple of his associates they had a 26er of Fireball and a 30 case, and these guys each probably make over 200k a year lol

everyone likes to have a couple pops out on the course, of course your gonna get busted on a little dinky pitch and putt, but on the big courses when your paying $100+ to play, im sure they dont mind a beer or 2, it's a social thing

How much are you asking, and would these be okay for a beginner? I want to start learning how to play golf and am looking to pick up a cheap set.

*edit* Also does anyone have any recommendations for a place to go to get some preliminary lessons? Preferably on the west side of Vancouver in possible.

Yea. A lot of the fairways were tight and there were two that I remember where you couldn't even see your drive. You had to rely on the GPS and such to figure out where to hit. Friggin' hard.

I think on that first hole there, its about 220 to the bunkers.

As mentioned before, its not that elite at the pitch and putt level when anyone can fork over $12+ (or $7+ for twilight golf)

Also some ppl claim to play better while knockin back a few as it takes out the jitters.

I just picked up a new set of Taylormade R7s a couple months ago. I love em. I also tried the X18s and they are great. The X20s callaway suckkkkk. I also have a Cleaveland Launcher 460 ti. and love it.
I went and checked out Bear Mountain at Victoria, and it is fantastic. It is like its own village there. I cant wait to play there... $100 18 holes, includes cart.

...ummm the X-18s and X-20s are almost identical. Great for beginners and I know some single digit handicaps that also like them.

hahah yea they are in the process of being on sale not quite ready yet..but thats the thing i like about ping clubs, the finish they put on it makes resale value very high. I find chrome clubs show don't age well......

i played guildford yesterday, tryin to take advantage of that after 12pm 2 players + power cart for $75. the round took us 5 hrs 20mins....uggggh. but i guess for $40 w/ a cart i can complain too much hahah.

Golf shoes are important for a proper stance and balance. I have never golfed without proper shoes. I wear Footjoy and or Nike, and depending on the style (narrow/wide) I wear same size as street shoes. If you are contemplating buying a pair, make sure they are water resistant at the minimum or waterproof, the dew on some early mornings can penetrate and you end up with wet socks.

can anyone tell me where is the CHEAPEST driving range around vancouver/burnaby/richmond?

so far, i found
Fraserview. $50 for 20 tokens, 40 balls = $0.0625 each ball
No.6 near riverport. $42 for 10 tokens, 60 balls = $0.07 each ball

anyone else? i just bought my set today =D
very excited to practice and play the real thing!

everything about the fraserview range sucks.

i cant remember how much a bucket costs, but musqueam has a fairly decent set-up. give them a shout and see what their rates are.

or if you want to throw down an investment of $225, university will give you 50 tokens, which is the equivalent of $0.075/ball
