+1 for Tippmann A5s. They're very customizable and a great all around gun for beginners and pros alike.

Yeah A5's are very good beginner guns and have the cyclone feed installed already. Other great choices would be tippmann custom 98, tippmann alpha black and the Siera? All of which are highly customizable with many parts on the market.

If you guys are into woodsball or just plain tactical scenario games then those guns are very good choices.

Here's a pic of my set up!

naa it's not for sale..yet. It's my current setup that i use.

In addition, alpha black markers aren't bad but if you get it make sure you buy a cyclone feed for it. (especially if you want to replace the hopper with a tac cap for a more realistic look). Alpha black markers are basically 98 customs lol

also got a 14" stiffi carbon fibre accurate, quiet and weighs about as much as a pen

went paintballing for the first time ever tonight
richmond one...it was okay...decent size for an indoor one. layout was great but it was difficult telling apart friendlies vs enemies.

yeah i hear that a lot about how tough it is to tell team mates apart. I usually put those coloured ribbons on the tip of my gun, back of the mask and legs.

I'm looking to get into the paintball scene. What should I look for when purchasing a gun?

I've been looking at this package, is it any good?
Tippmann Platinum 98 ACT Gun Package | Badlands Paintball Gear Canada

Or should I look at used equipment? I'm looking to spend around $250 for gun + mask + whatever else I need.

Are these any good?

First of all, have you played before? Get use to the game first then when your dead serious to becoming more of a consistent player; buy a gun.

I've played 3 times and my buddies plan on going several times a year. The thing that I really want to get is a mask but I figure if I'm getting a mask I might as well get a gun.

if you are looking into buying your own gear, I would suggest buying them separately. These package deals are generally crap. Tippmann Custom is okay. Mask sucks, hopper sucks. HPA tank > CO2.

I suggest going on craigslist and buy a tippmann a5. Customize from there depending on what you like.

yeah I saw that too, looks pretty sketchy though. I wouldn't buy it since I don't know what to look for to check if it's working or not.

Think I might buy a used 98 custom for ~$100

Going to first paintball of this year. Finally the weather is looking good to play!

I find ambush paintball to be the best. Especially since its not so far out in the boonies.

Have a look around...
-Paintballgear.ca in Richmond and Coquitlam
-Badlands Paintball in New West
-PBL in Surrey
-My personal Favorite...CRAIGSLIST. Ive been paintballing for years now, been through almost everything. I have to say craigslist has never really let me down when it came to looking for parts.

In other news anyone here have a Tippmann X7 (Phenom or not) with a stock on it want to trade for my a5?

Ended up going with no stock. Feels better. Local is impossible to find anything for the A5 surprisingly. I just order off ansgear or hustlepaintball and have it shipped to PR.

I'm moving on the a speedball gun now though. Choosing between new gog extcy, new proto rail or used Invert mini or maybe a used empire Axe.

Most likely getting a used mini for the gf and extcy for myself.

Pretty solid. Usually the speedball phase comes after the woodsball. Id say go with the mini or Axe.

Personally im a planet eclipse fan boy! EGO or GEO! haha

went there to play this summer... it had some pretty crazy maps... one thing i hated about it was the mosquitoes, probably got bitten 8-10 times.

playing with guys that have their own custom guns just isn't right.. lol
