I wish I could paddle on the 10 men boat sometime, but I'm not on any LG team, so yeah.

I wanna win some races.

LG?

The 10 men boat was ok I guess. Its not much different other than front and back foot brace sucks, you can really feel it if anyone goes back in the boat instead of leaning out, and speed picks up faster when power is applied and dies faster the moment anybody lets up.

Last Gasp, of course. I'm not racing in it.

If you really want to, then join 'How Wet Can You Get'.
I'm pretty sure they will still take extras as there's a lot of races for that day.

No, I'm not racing because I'm going to rest my injuries.

All the talk about the Montreal nationals is interesting. What are Magnum's goals next year in Whistler? Would you try to go to the CCWC's?

Next year's qualifier is for the 2011 Worlds in Tampa. So it's going to be only one team picked.
With that said, Magnum's plan for next year is not concrete yet but it has been discussed in the past about attending said qualifier to battle FCRCC and any other teams (west and east) for the chance to represent Team Canada. The fact that its most likely be held near here improves the chances of Magnum attending. The argument against attending will be if our core paddler stays together or not.

Oh, I know who you're talking about. <_< He IS pretty damn big.

Also, while it sounds nice to race for 2011 Worlds as a club crew, I don't think Magnum is ready to make that jump (Too many commitment issues), so we'll be just content with being in a Nationals. If we can make it to CCWC for 2012 I'd be happy, but will the core even stay long enough?

Fixed.
I agree, but we have a decent chance nonetheless to contend.
The experience will teach us, humble us and help us strive to be better.
Because there's nothing better than to finish racing in the Nationals and leave with a sense of wanting more...bigger and better goals.

Only time will tell.

Yes, bit the bigger and better goals requires increasing effort, skills, and talent from the paddlers. It can't be done if we have even a very small bunch of paddlers who could barely keep up. (Not to point out names.) I don't care, but the higher level we aim for, the more each and every paddler need to be accountable for his/her own skill level and dedication.

I don't want to raise the expectation for the team if we're not 100% committed, technique and effort wise. (And I mean 100%- everyone including the the spares. If we really want to reach the top, we'll definitely need to start clamping down on technical offenders.)

Yes, going even higher wouldn't just mean increased practices/OC time, but also gym sessions to make sure that everyone's up to the level on the power output. Which would lead to increased chance of injuries- there's a reason why FCRCC have their own personal message therapist for some outings. (You might've seen her in the FCRCC regatta.) And really, if you know about the FCRCC schedule you'll know how detailed their training really is-- every paddler is expected to know what to do, how to train an appropriate volume, and do his/her own offwater trainings like core sessions, gym workouts, and whatnot.

It's not all that uncommon when you look at the top national and international competition. So yes, maybe it'll become more than just a passion into your lifestyle, but isn't what most elite athletes do anyway? It's just a matter of gathering the people with the drive and determination to do so and making such commitment.

We have areas to work on for sure, improvements wouldn't be in the form of a 4th team practice, but more like personal oc and gym session. It all boils down to time commitment vs having a personal life. some dont want to have their personal life completely fall off the radar lol.

I really want names on the back of our jersey...

I want a jersey with a collar so I don't get lifejacket burns anymore. And yeah, names on our jersey will be cool, but also another colour scheme. <_< Do we really need to go with BLACK in summers?

I hope noone makes a jersey with a collar, people will be popping them all over the place. Black is the best colour, even if it gets hot, you still look cool lol

You get lifejacket burns? I'm pretty sure it depends on your PFD type.
Collared jersey's gay, turtle neck would be less gay, but hot as hell during summer.

Black is awesome for sure, but white looks good too, like lycra/dryfit white...though I'm biased coz i have a thing for white color haha

Yes, I get lifejacket burn on my neck, it gets really bad when the skin at that area is irritated from all those rubbing, and I've already tightened my shoulder straps to as tight as possible. So yeah.
