face/off 8.2/10
actually my first time watching it in its entirety...aside from the happy go-lucky ending it's held up really well...might just be my fave Travolta performance
now I know where this gif comes from

dawn of the planet of apes 7.6/10
terrible title, gets predictable, otherwise a solid movie for what it is...and because gary oldman is in it

Neurons to Nirvana: Understanding Psychedelic Medicines - 10/10

Because I'm biased about drug laws, and their unjust classifications from our government. Furthermore, anything that helps the expansion of consciousness at no proven detriment to normal human grow and health should be promoted too. This film explains that in a very propaganda-ish way.

NightCrawler 7/10 - Was a bit quirky but kept me entertained and keep watching.

Tusk 3.5/10 - As someone who likes Kevin Smith and doesn't mind the Saw and the Hostel movies this was just fucking weird. I knew what it was about going into it but I was still like WTF?

Best movie review since someone else here reviewed Speed Racer and ended it with "The only way I can recommend this movie in good conscience is if I tell you to go watch it on mushrooms. This movie will fucking rock on mushrooms. Its colorful and loud. Theres lots of movement and if you don't manage to urinate on yourself (although with its target audience, you wouldn't be out of place) you'll enjoy it."

Just 1. Maybe 2 this weekend. The others aren't really Christmas movies anymore... this fact has even been immortalized in song:

Moneyball: 9/10

Now, I normally can't stand movies about sports. Doesn't matter if it's about football, baseball, MMA, dancing, etc. They all annoy the fuck out of me, mainly because they all follow a pretty damn formulaic plot line and have a hugely predictable ending regardless of if it's based on a true story or not.

Moneyball, while still managing to follow the basic formula for a sports movie, surprisingly managed to avoid most of the pitfalls that I can't stand. Sure, it's about a baseball team that's doing shitty and one man's attempt to make them a better team. However, the fact that the movie focused almost exclusively around Brad Pitt's and Jonah Hill's characters more than made up for anything else. I love Aaron Sorkin's writing style and the fact that he could make an Oscar worthy film based almost only two people talking is fantastic.

The Deer Hunter (1978)

Robert De Niro - Christopher Walken - John Savage

I'd give it an eight out of ten, I really enjoyed it. The characters felt very real, you worry when you think something is going to happen to one of them, and the experience benefits from that. I've seen reviews that shame a pro American point of view in Vietnam, though I don't feel the same way. What happens in the movie happened in Vietnam, the fact that it centers around the characters and not the suffering outside of the characters sphere of influence should not detract from it's rating.
