Straight Outta Compton - 9/10

I was talking to hypa the other day and he said this will take you straight back to the late 80's and it delivered. It told their story well and kept me bumping along to their tunes. I always have some NWA in the car.

Room was ok. The first 1 hr was great but then afterwards didn't do it for me. the longest time I thought the kid was a girl.

deadpool 8.5/10
so many jokes which were really awesome as you have to really listen closely to think of the references. Decent script, pacing and soundtrack.

Great script. Talks about a guy who met a girl (in the late 80s) at the movie theater but wasn't able to see her again. He spent the few months finding the girl with different means with some amazing side stories.

Does he actually finds her, who did he actually find etc. Young male and female lead but great acting. Supporting cast was great as well. Medium paced film with a great side story with one of the supporting cast.

Cantonese film with hardcode english subtitles only.
Watched it yesterday

7.5/10

I like canto romance movies in general. The side stories were well done. Some parts of ridiculous overacting which was annoying, but the overall story, pace, was good. It was confusing as heck because Gigi doesn't look like her "younger" self, and the ending was not as direct as it could have been. I still enjoyed it.

Deadpool - 9/10. They did exactly what I was hoping for, from what I know of the comics (I've only read a few) they kept it pretty true to the way Deadpool should be. Casting was great as well, Ryan Reynolds was awesome as Deadpool (having him was perfect since Deadpool is described as looking like "Ryan Reynolds crossed with a Shar-Pei" in one of the comics).

london is down.
7/10
it's mindless, but whitehouse down was much better.
action was tighter as it was inside white house and you could see diff parts of white house.

this was just simply rambo trying to protect president. i wouldn't be surprised if they filmed the entire thing in US. Few 1 liners here and there.

Funny movie but doesn't hold a candle to Ferrell & Wahlberg's The Other Guys. Think that movie got my hopes up considering they were both the star actors in that one as well.

wtf is this shit

Maybe I just don't "get it" but I don't know how this got such good reviews

Deadpool
8/10
Solid. Good comedy. Weak bad guy. Decent pacing and didn't feel too long
Trailers took all of the action away, but not a problem.

yeaaa I heard a radio review of it, saying it was a MUST SEE movie, and there were very good reviews of it online, so I thought I had to watch it. UGH bad movie

Unrelated positive note -

For a bit more money, and if you're in the Vancouver area, I would recommend going to the new Cineplex on Marine Drive and Cambie for the VIP experience. I went yesterday with my wife for Deadpool, and IMO it's worth it. The seats are very nice, you can get food delivered to you, there is a bar area which is very nice and fancy. Will be going again for sure

Is it any different than Coquitlam? Coquitlam is almost 10 years old (I think) so it definitely shows its age. But is there anything that differentiates Marine from Coquitlam aside from "new car smell"?

I've never been to the Coquitlam one, but here is what it was

-Really nice lighting and a bar area with a lot of seats
- Balcony area for the summer

-Theatre is Dolby 7.1
-Leather seats in 2x2 format. Middle cushion area of seat can be moved up so it's a joint seat
-Seats are electronically reclinable
-Side arms of chair are tables that can be pulled up to in front of you for food
- Delivery of food to you
- Food is pretty decent, got a burger and also a salad

The bar area IMO is very nice and there are a lot of bar tables with 4 chairs per table, and also a lot of leather chairs on the side for casual seating as well

IMO it's worth it to go early and chill before going to a movie, or after a movie.

I bolded the things that I'm pretty sure are different/better at Marine. I love the VIP theatres (before the Scene points change) and always watch blockbusters in it to avoid the rush. Good to see there's another option out west.

Point break 2015 movie.
wtf did they do. what a shit way to butcher such a great classic movie.
Editing really sucked, action was medicore to say the least. I truly did NOT enjoy this movie.

Action sequence was a wash, only thing that was true to the movie was probably the names; johnny utah and brody. Fuck, even the ending 100 ft waves was shit.

what a waste 5/10 $100 M budget, 131 box office. f you for ruining a classic
