I thought all NF come with chainstitched hems? Did you get yours used? Maybe the previous owner had them hemmed.

Nah I got mine from Below the Belt. Even the ones on T+Y are regular stitched: http://tateandyoko.com/1-jeans/43-na...-selvedge.html

Weird.

i wear my raws everywhere 365 days a year. even in asia.

i found the best way to get the best fades, is really... just not care.

wear it wherever whenever.

just dont spill shit on it and never wash it.
once in a while throwing it in the dryer and letting it tumble for 20min "cleans" it out.

im a pretty clean guy, ive only washed my jeans a handful of times and its usually very little detergent, cold water wash. and tumble dry (to reshrink).

my best faded jeans are ones that i just wore everywhere, and just left em be.

btw i wash my jeans like twice a year if even LOL. and i only have 3 pairs of jeans. and i only wear jeans unless it's for physical exercise or formal events.

I just got the crotch on my denim patched up at Oakridge Tailors. They did a good job, can barely tell it was patched. (I'll post pics later)

When i went a few years back i had no issues. Your legs are gonna sweat more though, obviously, so just bear that in mind when you choose what denim to bring. Obviously lighter weight stuff too so your legs don't suffocate

Only other problem i had was the denim being folded and squished down for an extended period of time. I just popped it in my carry on on the way back. And even if you don't it isn't a huge deal. The crease that forms usually goes away after a few wears

In any case have fun in hk man! I'd be lying if i said i wasn't extremely jealous

^pretty much.
only things i wouldnt do are things that would greatly accelerate the wear on them such as
-putting them in the dryer
-going on sweaty ass hikes with them

all garments eventually wear out and have a lifetime.
just keep in mind that if you try to wear the shit out of them under harsh circumstances, they wont be good for as many years/wears.

You answered your own question. If you can't move properly or freely, why would you want to do the grouse grind in them? Plus if you haven't done it the grouse grind is through the mountains on a dirt filled trail. Unless you want your jeans to be brown then by all means feel free to do so.

On another note,

I'm about to wash my dry organic taped teds after 7 months of wear. Anyone have their ways of fading it? I read an interesting one on the Nudie blog about how one person left it on a motorcycle during a rainfall and the fades looked nice. My previous pair I just threw in the wash but I'm just wondering if anyone has other suggestions.
