| Officer wrote 105 in a 50
When infact it was a 60. Can I get this ticket dismissed if I dispute it?
The problem is he threatened to raise the fine if I dispute.
He said if I'm worried about paying it to mail in for a fine reduction. What's the most I can generally get off these tickets?

1) What was the section number shown on the ticket?
2) What was the fine shown on the ticket?

Where did he write it was a 50 zone? There is no spot on the ticket to say what the speed limit is and how fast your were going.
The ticket he wrote you will stand up in court because even if it is 105 in a 60 zone you are still speeding excessively.

I thought so, but why would he threaten to raise the fine?
Also I was never doing 105, he claimed he was trailing me but he did it from about a block away. In reality I was going 80. But I guess its my word against his type of thing.

Can the OP request to see the video from the police car with the speed superimposed?

If you really were doing only 80, that's not excessive speed whether it's a 50 zone or a 60 zone ("excessive" is 40+ over the posted limit). If that's the case, I would definitely dispute that.

OK, now the light goes on! You were saying that you were doing 60 in the 50 and the officer was saying that you were doing 105 in the 60, right?

I was doing 80 in a 60 but the officer claimed I wrote I was doing 105 in a 50, which is not true because granville's speed limit is 60 kmh, and I was doing 80.
I did speed but I did not go that fast! And he told me he was trailing me for 15 blocks, but at 4:30 in the morning there was no cars on the road, and I only saw him behind me of 28th and granville not the 17th he claimed.

Request to see the evidence against you, in this case the dash cam video.. If what you are saying is true that is the only way to prove it.

Hey Andreas, I saw a couple speeding tickets pinned up on the wall of George's office last time I was up there, either of those yours?

What soundy said, and no none of those are mine. This would be my first speeding ticket. Him on the other hand travels up the sea to sky every so often in his CLS, and he got out of his last ticket by saying to the cop "please don't give me a ticket, I lose my license" :

Enter your dispute to the allegation, request disclosure and decide from there.

even if granville is only 50 km/h going 80 isnt excessive speeding, it'd be the same ticket either way (Or close to it)

Incorrect. "Excessive" is defined as 40+km/h over the limit.
You're checking in the wrong place.

According to ICBC's published statistics, "Excessive speeding" is responsible for only 12% of all speed related deaths in 2005...
Begs the question why it gets the highest fine...

Maybe it's because the faster you go, the bigger the hurt when you hit, the less time you have to react and the harder you are to be seen by other traffic? Go to a few crash scenes as we have and see what excessive speed can do to bodies and cars. A crash that is fatal at excessive might well be preventable, let alone survivable, at slower speeds, but that is only based on 28 years of going to crashes...your experience may differ.

So ICBC is publishing bogus statistics? According to their website, it is the least deadliest form of speed.
And here's another thing... official military policy states that motorcades carrying important people should travel noticeably faster than the posted speed limit. Kinda blows the "road engineers suggest that the posted speed limit is the safest at which a vehicle can travel" theory out of the water... |
