A Coquitlam man facing mischief charges in the keying of 100 cars may have been targeting ICBC. Investigators believe 31 year old Soo Yo Kim has issues with ICBC dating back five years, when an acquaintance was unhappy with the outcome of a claim.
ICBC's Doug McLelland says whether or not Soo Kim was targeting ICBC, it's drivers who are paying the price, "ICBC, to pay for these claims, has to collect premium dollars from our customers and our customers directly have to pay deducatible costs, not to mention some people may not've had comprehensive insurance and some people may insure with other insurers."
McLelland says Soo Kim is suspected of up to a million dollars with of damage.

Sad thing is, from what I've read they've got him for one or two cars and under $5000 in charges. Making the case stick for all the other cars is going to be almost impossible.
I don't know the law too well, but I think its all circumstantial. It'll be up to the police to prove that he did the others... and unless they had witness' all they have is circumstantial....
Even though everyone knows he did it... just like OJ man!
I read that there may be a class action lawsuit against the guy. Not sure how that would work since they would have to prove it as well.

The burden of proof in civil court is easier than criminal court. They could probably get him on damages to cars in that one parking lot, but not much else. They should have let that dog maul away at him for a little while.

They caught him on two cars, so if the marks are cimilar to the other cars they'll nail him. Almost like a signature.
I remember a guy from our high school who ended up cracking safes for a living. He did a bunch, butonly got caught on one of them. He used a cutting torch to make a hole in the door so he could open the lock. He was convicted of all the previous safes because the patterns from the cutting torch were all the same.

The stupid part is chances are he doesn't drive. If you read the news stories.. he is pissed of on how ICBC treated his acquaintance.
Instead of throwing him to prison, we should just commit these people in mental institutes in middle of nowhere and throw away the keys.

all the people who had their cars keyed by this guy should have a chance to key him! Also ICBC suing him.. how about all the people had to pony up 300 bucks for their deductible to pay for a paint job... I say all those affected should file a class action suit against him to get their deductibles back!!!

I heard on the news this morning that he was upset for the way ICBC handled his friends claim on his car (they refused to pay) and this was his way of getting even or "revenge" on ICBC.
i think they should "SOO" him hahahaahahahahahahahah
