Pronto Caffe 9/10.

Loved the Porchetta panini.
Very stuffed and loaded with meat.
A small cafe located on Cambie across Park Theatre.

New restaurant called Pho Thai Hoa opened on 45th & Victoria

0/10

DO NOT GO.. One of the worst pho restaurant I ever been to. The deep fried spring rolls were soggy and tasteless.

I had to drain the noodles from the soup as the soup base was extremely salty. I wonder how they screwed up so badly.

Service wasn't the best.

Okonomi Sushi in New West (4th St location): 7.5/10

It's in a swanky old smelly building but you won't notice the old-smell after a bit. They have couches for seating which I avoided at first but my friend said it was actually comfortable, and it was. I tried their chirashi don and some nigiri. The sashimi and nigiri is huge, almost double the size of what you get elsewhere. You can't even see the rice of the nigiri. The toro was noticeably better quality than some other sushi restaurants and had no fishy taste. Salmon and tuna tataki sucked though.

There's a bunch of these posters everywhere which I thought was annoying and I can't speak for what they claim about their pink rice, but it was good (tasted like regular sushi-rice):

Cactus Club (Scott Road Surrey) - 7/10. Ordered "The Burger" with fries. Tastes great as usual, maybe a little too much sauce. The waitress ruined it, kept coming to our table asking if we were done with our food and 3 times, we told her "NO". The restaurant wasn't even busy around noon time and we were chatting away; hence, eating the food slow. She even filled up our drinks to the top and spilled it each time she came over since she topped it off, which I don't understand why should would top it off.....

we didnt enjoy much at enjoy cafe

ate at 1+1 enjoy cafe (reopen) with 4 other friends on sunday night around 10:30pm

all 4 of us got our food and drinks except for one of my friend waited half hour. he didnt even see his food after we all finished our food and drinks.

i've talk to an older waitress and she replied "its coming" but she had no idea what's going on

waited another 10 min and still nothing show up.

i had to ask servers few times and we all got pissed off

my friend end up had to complain to the manager and lost his appetite

i guess we didnt enjoy much at new enjoy cafe

i give 4/10 because my Indonesian fried rice taste plain, i had to ask for chilli oil twice to add to my rice

You went to a place that serves Japanese tapas. Small dishes sound about right.

Man, you are the biggest troll.

how am I a troll? yes it does serve japanese tapas, and yes, it did serve bigger dish 1/2/3 years ago.... are you a hipster or someshit that loves small plates that is complete shit / expensive...? I am telling the truth since I was a regular back then. The tuna tutaki is utter crap compared to what it was a while ago.

You sir sound like a complete troll.

I guess stating the truth is being a troll now.. according to bcrduke

Blue Water Wednesday.

9/10

Had:
Appy:
The special appy was kalamari.

The kalamari itself was okay only because it was too "burnt" and a little charred, but the sauce was amazing and covered up the kalamari.

2nd Appy:
Lobster sashimi + miso soup w/ lobster claws and head - 1lb
Fresh from the tank.
Both the 1st and 2nd Appy came together.

I surmised that it was because I was the only guest that actually ordered 2 appies, so that is fine.

Mains:
Scallops in carmelized sauce:
The scallops were well cooked to perfection and had a sweet sauce.

BUT the "rice crackers" were too bland and had a weird herby taste I did not like.

Dessert:
Warm chocolate (basically lava cake) with black sesame vanilla ice cream - nothing special, but I remembered Blue water back in the days when they added a LITTLE alcohol/wine into the liquid chocolate inside. They didn't do it in the recent years.

Service:
Was good, by the book.

But, every server I saw was courteous and smiling.

Conclusion:
Don't order "special" appies that the server tells you about.

Instead, go for the regular appies.

Food was good as usual.

-1 for the special appy charred taste and the rice crackers.

Private Home (I shit you not, that's what the restaurant is called)

8.5/10. Food came fast, great service, wasn't insanely busy inside and it's air conditioned.

Pros: See above.

Cons: Hard to find parking.
