LMAO! There are a few here that I would gladly follow blindly to eat with though. Culverin and westopher come to mind.
Not Armind because I can't afford repeatedly going to the same places he does.

my close friend is a top cook @ Nightingale

said the owner tried 52 different types of olive oil in Italy before picking the right one, personally picked the cheese / pasta from Italy as well... anyone tried this place?? how would you recommend it?? Told me they take care and respect their food so much but unsure about the taste

I've talked to a few people about it. Most people had great things to say about some aspects and bad to say about others. It's new, and I imagine finding its consistency in a place that large will take some time. If I'm gonna go spend 200 on dinner, I'll wait until they iron out the kinks for a couple months.

Nice, might consider this since it's something different

Have you been there during lunch? How's the food? Reservation needed?

I've been hearing some good things about this place, but the source is from a friend of a friend so I'm not sure how much trust I should base that on if I was going to drop that kind of dough for dinner. I'll give it some time before trying haha.

Oh and for those that didn't know, Kamei Royale is the flagship restaurant in the Ebisu chain. They moved from the original location on W. Georgia down to W. Hastings.
It will be opening this coming Monday, June 27th!

We pulled out all the stops to re-invent the traditional menu. We had the honour of inviting the former personal cook for the Emperor of Japan to work with our current chefs and show us some new dishes.

We picked him up from the hotel because he got lost, couldn't find Robson street haha. Last month we pretty much escorted him around every branch and let him sample everything on our menus.
Last week he stepped into the kitchen at Kamei Baru around 5am on Saturday, strapped on his apron and went all SHOKUGEKI on us.

From what I've tried so far all the fish dishes were amazing, sablefish, mackerel. The sockeye was drizzled in this paprika citrus sauce... . Moist and full of flavour.
The ribeye was delicious but IMO it's hard to screw up ribeye. The basted pork ribs were a tad dry. Lamb Chops were good but nothing extraordinary.

Salmon sashimi don at sushi and roll in Surrey.
Quality 5/10, quantity 10/10. A lot of my friends have been going there due to the price per portion ratio and "awesome" sushi but it was just aite.

Anyone have recommendations for sushi in Langley/South Surrey?

Boiling point. 4/10. Service is shit. Sand in my food. Do they even fucking clean their shit?? Tables are sticky. At least the #8 spicy is super flavourful. But what msg infused soup isn't.

Dick's Drive in in Lynnwood, WA. Two burgers, fries and a shake for just under 10 bucks, and served in two minutes. Probably sat under a warmer, but god damn they were delicious. Based on value and taste, 9/10.

Took the family to Nightingale for lunch. The design of the room is beautiful. Our waitress wasn't as on the ball as their sister restaurant Hawksworth but I don't think they were aiming for white table cloth service. She was nice enough though.

Food was really good but portions were definitely on the smaller side.

We ordered the:
Roasted Cauliflower - normally not a fan of cauliflower but these were roasted perfectly
Roasted Maitake mushrooms - the roasted hazelnut gave it a very earthy aroma, delicious.
Anchovy toast - quite unique but personally wasn't on the level of yum as the other appies.
Tomato salad - I noticed a trend that they use pesto sauce on a lot of their dishes lol, the salad was tangy and light with assorted heirloom tomatoes. I enjoyed it.
Charred lamb chops - juicy and tender, seasoned perfectly with a nice charred crust to give it that smokey flavour.
Cavatelli carbonara - disappointment dish of the meal, came out looking like a fancy mac'n cheese. Not much punch to the dish and was too thick and creamy for my preference.
Pizza of the day, Pork Belly - I found it lacking in meat, but the crust was airy and crispy.

Their Nightingale beer which the server said is specially brewed for them from Main Street brewery, a blend of Pilsner and Saison, is delicious. Great summer beer.

Comparing quality, flavour and value to Le Crocodile which is a 10/10, they get a solid 8/10.
Put quite a dent on the wallet though lol.

Yeah, my office is in that area so we go there quite frequently for lunch. The food is quite good. We usually make a reservation.
