And just to clarify for me, that is all one is paying when coming back over the border correct? Going to be buying a bumper for my truck in the states and 99% sure the thing is manufactured down there.

Would someone please share their experience in this matter? What kind of questions will the US border officer ask when I tell him I'm sending something to a US buyer? (This is going to be a private sale, not a commercial one.) Will they charge any taxes or duties for the thing I'm trying to ship?

Any insights will be appreciated.
I've shipped two things from the states cus it's cheaper. First time it was coilovers, and when I told the officer what I was doing he sent me inside. I have them a lil paper that the officer first gave me and I had to pay a fee of 25$ or so. I'm guessing for using their country to ship? Don't know the reason as I wasn't paying too attention. Anyways ended up shipping no problem. And then I shipped some brake pads back to the manufacturer As they were the wrong ones, and when I told the officer that they didn't send me inside or anything and I just went on with my business

they want you to pay a commercial conveyance fee ($11.75 and they only accept usd or credit card/debit). you should bring all documents and some are more anal than others. don't try to bring anything counterfeit. someone tried to bring fake prada bags and got fined $10,000 (border guard told me).

if you get a super anal guard, he will ask for proof of sale (so probably paypal receipt) and ask for certificate for country of manufacture.

Tax, gst and pst.

Even if an item is duty able, I find 95% of the time they won't bother to charge it even if they are making you pay tax already

********* Warning as well, I went to point Roberts last weekend and got gas at Chevron and did not use my card anywhere else except Walmart back in town. I got a call today from the Bank asking if I spent over $1000 on itunes yesterday when I dont even have a iPhone! Everything leads back to pt. Roberts .... even though I've been getting gas there for the last 6 years. ***************

Went to pick up Rims/Tires/TPMS this morning

Going into PR, US Boarder Guard asked "Purpose of the trip"

Replied "Picking Tires/Rims"

US Boarder Guard: "Are you a tire/rims dealer?"

Hahaha

Coming back into Canada, Canada Boarder Guard didn't ask where does the tires/rims/tpms made. Ended up paying just taxes ($122, no duty fee)

You have two weeks to pick them up. After that they charge extra.

How's traffic in the afternoon coming from Vancouver? I'm planning on going tomorrow at around 4-5 before tsb closes. Don't want to get stuck in traffic on the way lol.

Really, really, really shitty. Going there and coming back youre gonna get hit with the worst traffic. 4-5 is like absolute peak hours, its best to go around anywhere from 10-2

You can always look on the highway traffic cams. Near the bottom is the cams for highway 99 at oak street and massey tunnel to help you a rough estimate of how traffic is looking before you head out

They just want to know if the items you're picking up are intended for resale or personal use. I get asked that all the time when I go down there to pick up hockey equipment. As for paying taxes it seems like that's what most people end up doing if they get pulled in, no duties unless they really want to be a dick to you.

Traffic is ok but not great going there, but coming back is garbage because there's only 1 lane through the tunnel. If you have a passenger and can ride the HOV, then I'd say its worth doing since it shouldn't take much longer than 10 minutes to get into the tunnel via HOV. Saturdays can be quite busy at PR because that's when most people go, 30-60 minute lineups are not uncommon.

most of the receiving places do. PR Shell, TSB, etc.

I think it's usually $1 per letter. They hold for much longer than 2 weeks as well - I think PR Shell holds for 6 months.

A question to other who drive down to point roberts, I want to send a small package and I'm wondering whats the cheapest way to do this. I talked to shell and they asked for $20. I can do it locally for $24. I know there a post office in pt. roberts and wondering if i can simply mail it from their?

small package: where is it being shipped to? what is the weight? tracking number? signature on delivery? post office is past the shell gas station. if a commercial shipper is in the line up, be prepared to wait. some commercial shipper idiots don't know commercial shippers can print their own stamps at a cheaper price online and just drop it off at the back door...
