driver's abstract

I'm currently interviewing for a job in Seattle and they would like my 5 year driver's abstract. My question is how would I/they go about obtaining the abstract. I have had a speeding ticket during the days when i had my N. I've had my class 5 for 4.5 years now. Would the driver's abstract show anything before my class 5 ? Thanks.

like the website says, it will show anything in the last 5 years. So if you had tickets like 6 years ago, then it wont show up.

sorry for the uber bump here, but does the abstract not show everything? I just had to get mine for a job application but it only shows one ticket from a while back (no insurance ), the other ticket I got this spring but haven't paid yet (driving without consideration). so did the ticket just disappear? or is it simply not shown on an abstract?

because you have not paid it, i think they think your going to challenge it, which means it wont appear till your found guilty/pay it

Incorrect, given the time delay in not paying it. If you haven't paid or disputed in the alloted 30 day period, it is added as a conviction to your record and you will have to pay for it before renewing your licence.

^ I know that part, but is it not on my abstract because I haven't paid? or because such an offence doesn't get listed? or have I lucked out and somehow the paperwork got lost?

Well, if you got it this string, it may not be 30 days yet.

It could be that it never made it through ICBC's ticket quality control. IE. an error on the ticket, such as wrong fine amount, wrong section #, etc.... I've had a few returned to me to be re-served because i mis-read the tiny writing in the handbooks they provide us with and fill in the wrong fine amount or what have you. If you were never re-served, consider yourself spared a fine? You can always double check with a driver's service center to see if there are any outstanding fines or fees owing...

well the ticket says:
"Drive without consideration" "MVA ACT 144(1)(b)" "$196"

(2) A person who contravenes subsection (1) (a) or (b) is liable on conviction to a fine of not less than $100 and, subject to this minimum fine, section 4 of the Offence Act applies.
As I recall he gave me the ticket because "you went around that corner too fast and could have hit a jaywalker" "what jaywalker, there's noone around..." was a joke of a ticket so idk.
I'm not sure how to check the fine amount.

I've been out of the province since a few months after the ticket was issued and the car was transferred to my brother, but my parents have never said anything about an officer coming to the house trying to give me a ticket so...

Thanks gents, I guess the only real way to know is to wait and see if that's why it isn't on my abstract (cause I'm not gonna phone and ask). Fingers crossed ICBC doesn't ask for any extra money when I go to flip the insurance back in 6.5 weeks

Well, that is the right fine amount. Don't know what to say, other than to check with a driver's services center.

didn't wanna start a new thread to ask a question related to this topic:

but i was just wondering, what kind of stuff gets recorded on your drivers abstract?
a while ago, i got a warning for using the bus lane in front of BCIT (richmond campus), and was issued a ticket, but it was a ticket of warning, not a ticket with a fine. so was that recorded in my abstract? or are only offences w/ fines recorded?

thanks in advance!

^ you can get your abstract e-mailed/faxed to you if you call up ICBC and give them your license number, last vehicle reg'd, and security answer.

Only MVA offenses for which there were convictions and prohibitions/suspensions in the preceding 5 years will show up. MVAR offenses don't. Written warnings won't. Verbal warnings won't.
