Definitely Stonegrill, it's an excellent experience, great food! Just make sure you don't burn your hands haha!

gundamboy 12-14-2008 09:07 PM

if you have The Keg anywhere nearby it's always great, for that price range you might be looking at something like an italian restaurant or even greek.

Sorry, but I wouldn't suggest Stone Grill. You basically cook the raw food on your own and the food is not worth the high price.

i'm pretty sure the dishes at Stonegrill were between $15-20. Food definately wasn't worth the price. Tried it once for a friends b-day and I'd never go back there again.

I got treated by a friend a long time ago and I remember my meal being about $50 just for one small piece of meat and couple veggies.

Some Kinda Pasta W.10th & Timble
Correli's in Steveston Bayview Dr.

If you want to spend around $60 before drinks a tapas place is a good bet for a date too.

Not much more, all dishes below $30.

I would not take a date to Stone Grill, Reason? (besides the crappy food) You stink like crazy after. Anyone that has been there will know what I am talking about. And stay away from the game hen, something about raw chicken is disturbing.

I nominate Capones, and they have a live jazz band and slightly above your price range. In yaletown- not sure if that counts as downtown to you..

i had the EXACT response. 99% of the people on here says their food suck.
Use the search button, i'm sure i've bashed the place like ga-billion times on the value / meat / smell of the place and i'm sure by the end of this thread someone would agree with me.

exactly, the smell of people eating seafood cooking right beside you... sucks. you smell worse than coming out from Pho.

Capones is really nice, the environment is nice, but i don't think it would be below 20 dollars. good pick regardless.

willystyle 01-07-2009 10:44 AM

$50 for a piece of meat and some veggies that i need to cook myself?

jesus.... i rather go to The Keg..

skyxx 01-07-2009 12:34 PM

So where did he go in the end? Anyway, If it's pasta, I'd recommend "Vita Bella" On Hastings (Just after Willingdon). Great pasta and other Italian dishes too. My favourite is their "Linguine Fumate" basically smoked duck pasta. I would definitely give that pasta a try. Trust me!!!

Here's their Dinner menu with price listings.

I went to Italian Kitchen on Alberni tonite after work, pretty nice place and the food was really good and well presented. Staff was friendly and the price was reasonable. Most of the mains were between $14 to $22 for pasta and the salads were about $10-$14.
