To the dudes who think abortion is just a correction to a mistake and "it's not a big deal"
It's a huge deal, the mother to be can be extremely depressed with her loss, and can grieve the loss of the unborn for years... I believe in abortion in some cases but don't kid yourself that you wipe your hands clean once the fetus is gone, especially not for the woman.
Not to mention there is always adoption if you don't want the kid to live in poverty, have it give it up. "No big deal?" Yeah, right...

^ Sometimes. I know a few kids who've been adopted and they're doing just fine. In fact I know her parents as well and this kid is way better off being adopted. Sure she may wonder one day but she will grow up with a life she could have never had otherwise. This is not one single isolated example either.
Abortion or adoption in both cases the mother is losing a child she will never know. In both cases it is a huge deal.
But you're right about one thing, you don't have a choice. Can't make her kill it, can't make her have it.

^ Precisely why the OP should step up and take charge of the matter of using birth control whether it's in pills or condoms (or both, just to be wary of STDs).
BoneThug is right when he says it's easy - for the guy. The girl's the one that has it rough. But realistically (taking into account the time, money and effort needed to even get through a pregnancy, let alone raise the child), it is much easier to abort or put the child up for adoption.
Bottom line, no matter how much pain it would be to lose the child by abortion or adoption, if you weren't ready to raise it at all then why would you take the chance of conceiving it in the first place? Why didn't you take the precautions when there were so many options available? Prevention is better than Correction.

you should both go to a clinic and get checked by the doc and then he/she can discuss what her options are about going on the pill...maybe i missed this, but maybe she was confident in saying "it's alright" because she is already on the pill? I'm not religious, but even I realize that it's pretty easy for most of you to talk about abortions in the abstract. Abortions are never easy emotionally and there are health risks for the woman.
There are some decent condoms out there like Crown or Kimono. I haven't tried Crowns, but I've heard very good things about Crown skinless condoms.
