does IKEA ever have sales?

I'm planning to refurnish my room with a new desk and some other units.

hmm.. does ikea ever have any kind of sales?
perhaps 10%-15% off?
They have nice, affordable funitures, but since I'm planning to completely relayout my room I hope I can save some here and there..

Hm.. I don't suppose I can bargain at IKEA with the cashiers...
LMAO..

BTW: Any other recommendation for bedroom furnitures...
I might put a cheap brand-name LCD TV into my room as well...

They have sales twice a year. They've played those ikea ads on tv for years advertising 2 sales a year.

when do they usually happen?

hongy 01-10-2009 12:00 PM

Summer and winter I believe, sucks cause I wanted to redo my room as well lol

the linen n things next to ikea coquitlam , and linen n things in general have their going out of business sale, could try that too. or just find someone who works their and use their employee discount (15%)

Ikea regularly puts a selection of items on discount. They advertise it on their website. The nice thing is that both stores will have different items on sale.

Ocassionally they will put ads in the Van Sun with some doorcrasher items when there is overstock. Last year I remember getting some shelves for super cheap around May or June.

But if you're expecting a traditional sale where everything is discounted, I don't think that happens.

Oh and don't forget the $1 breakfast. Hmm I think I will have that tomorrow.

Eff-1 01-10-2009 05:33 PM

Also once you find the item you like, try looking for it on CL before you buy because there is lots of ikea furniture always on sale on craiglist. And you won't have to put it together.

ewww.. why hardwood floor?

I placed a green carpet over my hardwood floor because I don't like to step on cold wooden floor in the morning. Besides, not like I'm going to throw a party in my room or anything like that, so there won't be any major messes that is hard to clean up...
-IMO-

haha.. i was planning to repaint my room to baby blue, but it seems to be too much of a hassel since i have school to worry about right now

keitaro 01-10-2009 07:52 PM

ikea sometimes has a no tax day(or weekend). When they do have the no tax, i find it to be one of the best times to shop.
