Becon Insurance

Does anyone here use beacon to insure their bikes? If so, can you post up how much you saved over icbc?

I'm considering going through them for my collison/comprehensive, but only if the savings are worth it. TIA

it's worth the call to get a quote. They quoted me cheaper than ICBC.

Hey man it's totally worth it. I don't have it personally but my family friend saved approx 900 for the year. He has a 98 Honda VFR, rated the bike and his gear at a total of approx 6500.00

If you dont' mind me asking how old are you, or better yet how long have you been driving and/or riding?

I'm pretty sure they will only accept people who have been driving for at least 10 years and riding for at least 4/5 years?

Hope this helps...

So if you were to buy insurance from Becon Insurance, I'm assuming it would be for collission and comprehensive, no?

basic is always through ICBC, no choice. Collision and comprehensive is the one you can get from someone else

Basic third party liability through ICBC is only the mandatory minimum of $200,000.

If you wish to have a higher limit that can also be purchased through a private insurer.

I haven't looked into it specifically. Presumably, you could buy either or both.

I'm 29, driving for 13 years, riding for half a year only. I wonder if they'd insure me...

I have Becon Insurance on my bike, saved close to $600 over ICBC. ICBC was going to be $1595/year and Becon was $986/year. They will only insure you if you have 10 years of driving which I had by 3 days at the time. I only had my learners class 6 at the time so I don't think riding time effects them too much.

yea i'm likely gonna go with either Beacon or Capri. I got quoted $425 for all perils insurance, and i can go through my current insurance agent for that. Capri quoted me $350 for the same coverage, but I gotta find out if they deal with my insurance agent.

Anyone heard of Capri for insurance? I found them at the Motorcycle show in Abby.

Bump. I heard you don't need comprehensive from ICBC since that covers broken glass which most of the riders don't need.

Instead we get the "Special Perils" for fire and thief.

Can anyone enlighten me?

ok, for anyone who cares, i went out and insured my bike today, basic through icbc, and all perils through beacon, which includes collision, fire, theft, etc, also covers up to $1000 for a trailer and $1000 for riding gear.
This is what i would have paid if i got everything through ICBC: @ 43% discount, $570 for basic, $531 for collision with a $300 deductible, $755 for comprehensive with a $300 deductible, total cost of $1856 @ 43% discount.

This is what i actually paid: basic through ICBC, $570. All perils through Beacon, $455. Total paid is $1025, Total savings of $831.

So glad i found out about Beacon.

Thank you for following up with your original post. To put this in context, this is for your 07 R6, correct?

I'll look into Beacon when I insure next month. The difference might not be as significant for those with smaller bikes. I'll see if its worth it for the CBR 125.

I presume this is the annual rate? Does the Beacon coverage allow you to cancel mid-term? Do you know what the fee is?
