Gap Between Teeth

I'm starting to notice a gap between my front two teeth.. did some googling and something like "bands" are most popular way to fix this problem. My question, does this thing work? Where can I grab it? Are there any other affective alternatives to this problem?

I also have a small wire glued behind my two front teeths, since I've chipped and got a filling for it and need it to keep it in place. Is it safe to use this band with the wire?

how big would you say the gaps are in mm?

if it's pretty wide..the most common way is obviously getting braces.

Is it your upper or lower teeth? both?
Did you start seeing the gap when your dentist put the wire in?

or if there is alot of room in your teeth.. you could always get it filled !

its like 1mm on the upper teeth, there was no gap when the dentist put the wire in. i got it like 6-7 years ago (wire)

ask your dentist about it...personally i wouldnt worry if it's just like 1mm but if the wire's making the gap expand then i'd be worried.

Armind 01-15-2009 10:12 PM

The thing is, i dont know if its the wire thats making it expand..

Heres waht i was looking at online earlier.. http://www.teethgap.com/

I would get it filled. it doesn't last forever but very cheap to have it fixed it cracks.

Armind 01-15-2009 11:08 PM

^ How cheap are we talking? I don't really know the usual prices =\

Also, since i did get a filling for the chipped front teeth. Could that be a possibility of it being cracked after 6-7 years?

Harvey Specter 01-16-2009 04:16 AM

You have a veneer done for your chipped teeth? A veneer to fill a gap tooth should cost under $250 but it depends on the dentist. I had a minor chipped tooth which was filled a few years ago. I had both my front teeth touched up and it cost $150.

^ Yeah i think its a veener, not really too sure bout all this dentist thing. would MSP cover this?

Yes, it should.

Marco911 01-16-2009 06:26 PM

MSP does not cover dental work!

yep. why else would everyone put their dental health at such priority?;)

Armind 01-17-2009 02:02 AM

Hmm k thanks for clarifying things up :)

RFlush 01-17-2009 05:48 PM

If you have extended health care, it should be covered. I will be going to fill mine up in Feb.

Marco911 01-18-2009 09:41 PM

^^Since when did a cosmetic procedure become a "medically-required" procedure which as far as I know, is the test for all MSP benefits.

Harvey Specter 01-18-2009 10:56 PM

Marco is sort of right because technically if you have a chipped tooth it would be covered but if you wanted to have the tooth beside it touched up it wouldn't be covered because it would fall around "cosmetic:. That been said my dental plan did pay for my work, not sure if the dentist just charged the "cosmetic work" under the insured work.

I wouldn't really stress about the cost and if it's covered or not because even if you're not covered it shouldn't cost that much to have the work done. It should be under $200 (according to what my dentist billed).

Marco911 01-19-2009 12:15 AM

^^ First of all, are we talking about the MSP that is provided by the BC Government? If we are, it should not cover chipping a tooth, because it is still a cosmetic procedure, unless the tooth is chipped to expose the root.

If you are using your private dental insurance plan from work, then yes, they may cover this type of work.

Harvey Specter 01-19-2009 03:04 PM

I have no clue about MSP, I'm talking strictly about private insurance but some private insurance policies are very picky when it comes to cosmetic work.

Marco911 01-19-2009 09:10 PM

Ok, the original poster wanted a free ride with MSP and it clearly will not cover cosmetic work.
