I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with your coworker on that one. The sales guys are usually quite good (I'm young-ish so they usually ignore me, which I don't really mind.. better than being pestered).
I would only deal with the service department if you like getting bent over pretty hard. It's $120/hour just to diagnose a problem... Island Motorsport (and some of the other indy BMW shops around town) will diagnose for free and then fix it for $70/hour.
Anyway, thanks all for the advice, I will check out some of the shops mentioned and see if they'll be able to help me out.
