Using WestJet credit

Has anyone ever had to cancel a WestJet reservation and have the credit stored on their profile?

If so, I'm also wondering if you've been able to apply this credit to a WestJet promotion such as their 50% off fare sales? (ie. is it a restriction)

I'm curious because I have a flight that I need to adjust. Unfortunately it costs a lot to adjust the date since I originally paid for this flight when they had a 50% off fare sale. Basically to make the change, I have to top up by paying the difference in the regular fare.

So my options are:
1) wait for the next seat sale, and then cancel my original booking and apply the credit to the new sale (related to the question above)
2) pay the difference if there is no seat sale
3) wait for some other airline seat sale and cancel this booking and keep the credit for next time.

If no one knows, I'll just end up calling customer service.

You can use the credit for any flights that Westjet offers even if it's on sale.

just book another flight on your credit card, then call them and say you have a previous credit, they should refund the diff back to your credit card
