i'm not big on deadlifts, so you are probably right, but i see nothing wrong with that clip. explain what you mean by leverage...

Crossfit is all about having poor form in order to do more volume. You should see what they call a pull-up.

given that the goal of this exercise is to knock off 100 reps in as quick a time as possible, obviously form isn't important. if he were doing 8 reps like that, then ya, i would write him off as a dumbass.

... that's my point...

Comparing a kipping pull up to a dead hang pull up is like comparing a wide grip pull up to a narrow grip pull up. They are different kinds of pull ups. Another analogy would be looking at a guy doing sumo stance dead lifts and comparing it to a conventional deadlift.

hal0g0dv2 02-03-2009 11:54 AM

w0w 100 under 4 min shit pretty crazyyyyyyy

jakobi 02-04-2009 06:31 PM

better leverage - shoulders behind the bar, better pull
...her shoulders are leaning forward

kipping?
i wouldn't say its poor form...just a different version of pullup

sumo might have shorter range of motion but top record deadlifters are done conventional....
i've pulled both stance and I find that im stronger with conventional...form wise, sumo is better

I was trying to get at the fact that they are different variations of an exercise and they have their own form and technique. They are used at different times to train different aspects of the lift.

But yea, I'm the same, I can deadlift more with a conventional stance as opposed to the sumo stance.

Yes, you're smart enough to know that there is a difference between the two. Most of them are not.

jakobi 02-05-2009 09:33 PM

kipping, still a pullup...just more swinging

gymnists kip on their pulls (bars/rings)..
