hmmm this could be nothing... but there might be news of another shooting in Maple Ridge on tv later tonight

was just driving east into Ridge when this classic white mustang was weaving in and out of traffic headed West and tried to do a 4 lane left turn into a dark street but lost control and almost plowed through the 2 cars in front of me and kept going (thought nothing of it)

3 blocks down into downtown Ridge theres a lot of people standing around outside a restaurant looking shocked and 2 cars looked like they kinda made contact (nothing remotely serious) police on scene and more and more arriving as i continue east + the fire department and ambulance

just seemed rather odd, maybe im paranoid after the last shooting but... yeah odd

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Vancouver police are confirming shots were fired during a violent armed robbery in Oakridge Centre.

Winnie was in the mall just after 8:30 pm when the robbery happened at Montecristo Jewellers. "I saw a man with a black mask holding a gun, along with another man also holding a gun. Then there was pepper spray. There were about two to three gunshots that sounded."

She says it doesn't look like anybody was hit by the gunfire.

Matt was in the mall and says a security guard was injured. "

They beat the crap out of the security guard - he was pretty messed up."

Witnesses tell News1130 the scene was very chaotic. Vancouver Police are not saying if anything was taken and aren't giving information on any injures or suspects. We have at least one witness report that one person was arrested.

^^^^ Metro used to always get robbed when that (what was it shamin?) jewellers was there right beside the exit, now they've moved across the street; I'm betting that new jewellery store near Banana Republic / BeBe will get robbed soon since they have tiny windows (so you cant see inside) and a door so no1 can really hear/see a robbery (even though its like in the middle of the mall the other features must be an attraction)

silly security guards /facepalm

why would you try to stop people with guns... ur a damned mall cop with no weapon

ur job is really just to drive out the female/kid shoplifters etc

edit: be realistic twitchy do you think mall security is trained to deal with armed robbers or even equipped to?

no i know mall security is only trained to call 911 when it comes to armed robbery. But it's too early to jump conclusions when so little details about the robbery has surfaced. May be he was trying to escort panicking shoppers and got attacked as the robbers saw him/her as a threat? Too early to tell hence the fail.

yeah i understand about the sketchy details it just seems more likely he tried to stop em as thieves usually just concentrate on jetting

Securities are paper tigers. They're not authorized to engage any hostile activities. I have a frd who manages a security company and he said they'r not allowed any heroism because it poses a huge liability to the company. They'll actually fire u if u try to stop a crime. All they'r suppose to do is to record all the information and pass them on the the cops.

Sadly we're going to see more of these type of robberies to a point where it becomes common. A big part of the reason is the recession as more and more people get desperate they begin to adopt a don't give a shit attitude.
Jobs are becoming harder to attain. This is just the tip of the iceberg as far as I'm concerned.
It's going to get real ugly. World population is growing at an exponential rate.

The problem with Metrotown is its so big.. Nobody is gonna want to run through the mall with a mask on before they even rob the store since the cops will be arriving before they are even finished..
Its not like you can put on the mask when you get there since you will have a whole bunch of cameras that have gotten footage of your face by that point already..

The recession is just an excuse for lazy people to not work... Especially now.. There are jobs out there if you want them.

It seems like Monte Cristo gets robbed every year. At this point, what insurance company is actually willing to cover them? Their rates must be astronomical.

Sadly all the jobs available pay shit and are likely either entry level position without guaranteed full time status or labor jobs which nobody wants to do.
Lazy people will always find ways to loophole the system but this is not that case. The recession has fucked up so many jobs and its going to get even worse. Blame the US for whats about to come. Analysts are all predicting the same dire news
