The Bergen Record is reporting that the Nets and Nuggets have agreed to the framework of a deal that centres around Anthony heading to New Jersey, along with Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Melvin Ely and Renaldo Balkman. In exchange, the Nuggets would receive Devin Harris, Derrick Favours, Troy Murphy, Ben Uzoh and four first-round draft picks.

They just need Melo's "approval" lol

4 first round picks eh... that shows you that the NETS wants to win and will not build through the draft... I see their new owner spending the money big time to contend.

Carmelo Anthony said on Friday that he isn't aware of any meeting with Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov, adding, "I really don't know what I would say."
Just six more days of this, folks. Al Iannazzone of the Bergen Record is "100 percent certain Nets and Nuggets have an agreement in place. Deal is pending Anthony's approval." Meanwhile, Stefan Bondy of the NY Daily News says a deal is "essentially" in place, while Colin Stephenson of the Star-Ledger writes that their is neither a deal in place nor a meeting set up between Melo and the Nets. Ugh. Despite all the vague reports and misinformation, New Jersey and New York are still the most likely landing places for Melo.

Doesn't sound like he is going to approve...I thought he made it quite clear that he wants to go to New York.

Edit:

Quote:
Knicks owner James Dolan reportedly met with Carmelo Anthony late on Thursday in Los Angeles, and the Knicks and Nuggets are scheduled to hold a conference call on Friday afternoon.
The conference call will feature Dolan, Donnie Walsh, Nuggets owner Stan Kroenke and Nuggets GM Masai Ujiri, who will reportedly attempt to get around the Knicks' hesitation to include Danilo Gallinari in a deal that would also include Raymond Felton, Chauncey Billups and multiple other unnamed players. According to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News, Melo is slated to meet with Nets officials if a deal with the Knicks can't be reached. As always, stay tuned.

i don't see why he would have to "approve" of it. isn't it the GM's decision, and not his? i hate how it seems like the players "run the league" these days.

back when marcus camby was traded from the clippers to the blazers (last year?) i remember reading something about how upset about he was about the move, but did it matter? no. he still was sent packing to the blazers where, in the end, he still had to play hard every game.

I don't think you understand it.

He doesn't have to actually approve of any trade. However, New Jersey won't want to give up all that stuff if Melo doesn't agree to sign an extension. It's called a "sign-and-trade." So if he doesn't approve to sign an extension with the Nets, the nets will not be willing to do the trade. Get it?

Melo should be headed to NY pretty soon.

Quote:
The Knicks have reportedly upped their offer in the Carmelo Anthony trade fiasco to include Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler, Eddy Curry, and a first round pick to be acquired later for Anthony, Chauncey Billups, and what writer Marc Spears calls "fillers."
This is way more than Denver should be expecting, and New York probably won't budge from this offer at the end of the day. Because this offer is exponentially better than any actionable offer that Denver can get, or that Melo will contractually allow, owners should be ready for this deal to go down soon. Separate reports have indicated that Melo should have an offer to consider by the end of the weekend, and Denver still needs to move other assets before the deadline.

John Wall's 22 assists. Crazy, I orgasm'd when I saw his bounce pass to Griffin.

NBATV has reported that the Nuggets are now more inclined to add Timofey Mozgov and Landry Fields to their deal with the Knicks, rather than Danilo Gallinari.
It seems the Nuggets prefer the Nets' standing offer but Mikhail Prokhorov and co. won't make the deal without assurances from Melo that he'll sign an extension. New York's latest offer seems more than generous, given the Nuggets' lack of real leverage, yet Denver continues to play hard to get. Stay tuned.
