pornography and romance novels

Some women feel hurt that their SO watches pornography.

IN THE SAME TOKEN, should men feel hurt when their SO reads romance novels or watch korean dramas or whatever the fuck?

Is there a double standard here? Discuss.

asian_XL 02-28-2009 06:49 AM

I would feel hurt only if she has to masturbate to a romance novel.

do YOU masturbate to romance novel or korean drama?

BoneThug 02-28-2009 12:14 PM

girls do but girls whine about a lot of things. guys dont whine about things like this. cause we could give a fuck. thats the difference. if you are mad about your girl reading a harelquin romance she's probably about to starting looking for a manliar man.

miss_crayon 02-28-2009 12:33 PM

i, myself love watching porn and i have no problems with the s/o watching it. if anything, i think it helps us be more creative.

Lil Bastrd 02-28-2009 12:45 PM

I think when it comes to the two sexes there is a double standard for some people.
I however don't see the problem with either.

HappyDorky 02-28-2009 12:59 PM

I won't really mind if my SO watches porn with me though.

And we watch dramas together too, well maybe cause i made him.

+1
watch porn together lol

BoneThug 02-28-2009 02:56 PM

what does watching it together have to do with the thread topic?

happytoro 02-28-2009 02:59 PM

Well if their SO feels hurt that guys are watching porn themselves then watching together might help?

miss_crayon 02-28-2009 03:07 PM

^ good point. think of it as a compromise

Culture_Vulture 02-28-2009 03:24 PM

I would NEVER be with anybody that lets fiction run their lives.
It's bullshit. Fuck Edward Cullen. Fuck Casanova. Fuck Don Juan. They're all figments of imaginations. And for me, I know that a relationship for me simply won't work with somebody who isn't real enough to realize that.

Of course, pornography isn't fiction; and I love it when a SO watches porn with me.

Inaii 02-28-2009 03:35 PM

If that's all he does is watch porn, then there's a problem. Other than that, I couldn't care less. I watch it too, so it would be retarded of me to say no to him. I personally can't stand romance novels. I think they're poorly written.

And porn is fiction. Its a fantasy. Those people are acting.

the thread is about a double standard, not about hypothetical problems between a hypothetical couple. but i dont really care either way

I suppose you're right.
I had in mind sex tapes and what not.

EVEN then, porn is--I guess in a sense "less fictional" than dramas and whatever-the-hell else I typed up there.

my ex and her friends are all into those stupid books. they sit there and drool over the sex scenes in the books and watch shitty action flicks to stare at Jason Stathom and those other talentless fools.

I think if the girls getting her panties wet reading some book or watching some show, then the guy should be able to bust out a few knuckle children to a porno.

Are you a man??

quasi 03-02-2009 12:13 PM

LOL at this topic. My buddy broke up with his girlfriend mainly due to her being so anti porn. If you don't want to watch it fine but to tell you're SO that he or she cannot view it or go to strippers is just ridiculous. IMO it's people with low self esteem and no self confidence that would be offended if their SO watched porn.

Trinity 03-02-2009 02:57 PM

Man. Harlequin novels are so lame. Erotica is pretty lame in and of itself. I've never read anything that was actually good, or realistic, or just plain not trashy. I'd rather take porn over trashy vampire erotica... Er. I mean.

...Yeah.

underscore 03-02-2009 06:34 PM

^ the worst part is when someone actually thinks it's quality writing *sigh*

well I don't know about romance novels but I thought the book The Altar Of Venus: The Notorious Confessions of a Libertine was pretty good.
