take her to a korean restaurant on robsons, it cost 10$ , 15$ max, tell her to bring some other girl friends, this way, you may not have to buy her dinner, also maybe her friend is hotter, your 10$ is worth the time

I would say to do anything but dinner if that is to expensive to waste on a possible freeloader> if she acts upset that you want to do somthing different then theres your answer!

ah just go and wing it. if you're really hitting it off and it's going well, i doubt you'd mind buying her dinner. you'll come off as cheap not paying on the first date anyway. deal with the details later, if there is a later. =)
if the date's not going well and you're not hitting it off, why continue? you're the one taking her out, so what's to stop you from saying oh damn i'm beat.. and i just remembered i have some uh... shit to take care of... let's head home. haha.

i just don't like the idea of her expecting a dinner from me. why dinner, isn;t coffee, ice cream and walk in the park or around good enough . and we don;lt even now each other at all, but for 8 minutes we chatted

If money is a big deal to you, just take her out to somewhere relatively cheap. She's korean so why not a nice little bubbletea restaurant? Kerrisdale has a few that are decent and with food and drink for the both you, won't be much more than $20.

If this girl's high self-worth is bothering you, you can always incrementally do things to lower her self-worth to the point when you can say to her, "You're sooooo lucky that someone like me is even going out with you!"

Just take her somewhere casual and you're good to go. She sounded like she was joking about the "buying her dinner" and using that as a way of asking YOU out to dinner. Maybe she doesn't drink/like coffee and would prefer going out for dinner because that's usually a good 1.5-2 hours.
