Backyard Burning

Hey all,

During the recent snowstorm in Dec, My neighbor's little wooden backyard shed caved in on itself. I take a look out my window today and i see my neighbor's shed is half gone and a huge plume of black smoke in the sky.

Is he technically allowed to do this?

jimzilla 03-12-2009 12:29 PM

lol 4 firetrucks came by to stop him

It doesn't sound like a controlled fire to me... So I'd probably lean towards no.

Can you roast marshmallows from your place or do you need a longer fork?

Who uses forks to roast marshmallows?

It is all about using a wooden stick.

I keep thinking of that cartoon character from the Simpsons..the pirate with all wooden arms & legs. He would have great difficulty at a "roast". :)

zulutango, this is the police forum, serious discussion only please. you've been warned.

jimzilla, you need a whole barrage of permits and safety checks in order to do a "controlled fire" like that. you're technically not free to do whatever you want on your own property, there's still by-laws in effect

that's a ticketable offence, violating code 62(b) of the mis-fire conduct

just a quick note. i had to call city hall to inquire about this, but depends on your municipality. Richmond city hall gave me the number of their fire control unit or something like that and a guy had to come to our property to have a look before we could burn anything.
