| Recommendations for new progressive trance pls
I've been out of the loop of progressive trance for the past 3 years.
I got some new tracks from the last half year, but nothing epic like from '01.
Anyhow, please give me some MUST HAVE recommendations from the past 3 years.
Thanks in advance!
Anything from Above+Beyond or Armin is a plus! |

that's my buddy, link is at the bottom.
i guess it's more vocal progressive? I don't know. i just know it's trance, with vocals and fairly progressive. It's a good mix.

Just download some A State of Trance (Armin's radio show) or Trance Around the World (A&B's radio show). Check out the tracklist and you'll be set.

Have they really been THAT good?

Have they really been THAT good? | It's not whether it's good or not b/c what's sounds good to me might sound like shit to you. If you want to stay up-to-date on trance, than any trance radio show would be good.
I've been listening to ASoT since the double digits episodes and still do every week. Some episodes are good, some aren't. If you've been out of the trance loop for awhile, it's a good way to start again.
I suggest DLing the Yearmix off ASoT. Or take my iPod It has about 10 years worth of trance music on it....the 80GB is almost full and it's 95% trance (CDs and radio shows) with a bit of House/DnB/Breakz.

ASOT was good from 01-05. the show has seriously gone way down hill over the years after that in my opinion.
for me, i like corsten's countdown and tiesto's club life.

the asot's lately have been lacking flavour. the shows that i feel are putting out some good stuff are corsten's countdown, tatw for weekly. i'm a bit bias since i love the stuff coming out of anjunadeep, especially paul keeley and michael cassette/komytea's stuff. 100% class. subculture and identity are good for my monthly fixes.

for me, i like corsten's countdown and tiesto's club life. | Lol you say ASoT went downhilll but you listen to two of the most mainstream shows... how does that work? OP: Make sure you check out Marcus Schossow's show too, he's normally got some really great stuff.

OP: Make sure you check out Marcus Schossow's show too, he's normally got some really great stuff. | every radio show hosted by a top 50 DJ is mainstream. however, i didn't say mainsteam was bad.
all i said was that ASOT's direction has changed especially in recent years and in my opinion that direction is down. all armin wants to do is promote armind, ASOT and armada. unlike the original intent of the show when it first started, which is to promote any good music, it is now just a place for him to whore out his brands and labels.
yes, the same can be said for many other shows, but i find that corsten and tiesto makes a better effort in keeping things relatively fresh compared to armin.
hence why i like ISOS cd's over ASOT cd's.
mind you, this is obviously my opinion. you don't have to agree with it. |
