Reserving plates?

Is this possible? I'm going to get new plates after a trip to HK, can i ask my insurance agent to reserve a plate with number/letter combination that I like?

how does it work is each agent assigned plate within certain range and not allow to get others even if it's not taken?

Your agent can probably try to save you a number, however, the letters are assigned by ICBC. Each broker gets a specific number of boxes of these letters and numbers.

Chances are, the bigger the broker size, the more selection of plates available.

I don't see a point in that unless you get the customized ones.

I work in insurance and it is 6 characters (7 technically but there MUST be at least one space).

It's $100 to register the slogan and if it stays stale for 12 months you must pay it again.

All slogans are checked by ICBC, they actually have a team, by searching on the internet and other resources to make sure the slogan is not offensive.
