Was thinking on a bike.

Hey guys, I'm the kid with the 86 Corolla is you guys don't know me I got a build thread on my Corolla.

So since I still have another 10 months before I get my licenses I was thinking on a bike.

Something used but sporty.

Will I be able to work on a bike like how I work on the car. Take the engine out or replace this or that like I would on a car or is it kinda like "Shit I'm fucked, I gotta take it to a shop"

Sorry for the noob questions by the way.

But yeah I wouldn't mind getting a bike as a project to work on and maybe taking it to school and such.

So I wonder on -

- What brand ? (Does it matter ?)
- What to look out for
- How to check condition of used bikes.
Ect.

THANKS FOR THE HELP RS.

- BMX or whatever they sell at Sears.
- the front chain gear change guide cable
- If it looks ok, rides ok, it's probably ok.

If you don't have a license how can you ride a motorcycle? Makes no sense to me....

Motorcycle license can be obtained at sixteen.

That's what my father said, unless he's wrong. Then my thoughts are pointless.

I currently have a scooter to dick around on, but a nice sporty bike would be cool to work on and YES I'm still working on the Corolla haha.

My mother is planning to gift me something and she thought of a motorbike.

You have to 16 years old to get your learners licence, there is a 2 stage learner licence in BC. The first stage, you have to have a supervisor with a valid Class 6 licence and is 25 years old supervising you, cannot exceed 60 KM/H, no passengers, and only daylight hours. You get to the second stage by completing a Motorcycle Skills Test, this removes the supervisor and the 60 KM/H restrictions.

Depending on whether your a new driver or a valid class 5 driver then depends on how long you must keep your learners. A valid class 5 driver can do their road test soon after the skills test, while a new driver will have to wait up to a year after turning 16.

Ahh I see.

Thanks for the info!

I'll keep this thought aside when time comes, that I'm ready for a bike.

stop by at canadian tire, grab a Supercycle Hooligan!

you're prolly riding a stock fork which doesn't move much, throw it away and get on a Marzocchi (model depends on what kinda riding you're doing, i'd say 888)

since this beast has a 20mm axle you need new hubs, new hubs means git some new rims n spokes while you're at it,
hub = chris king chrome monstah

at that point you might as well swap out the stock rims and throw on some Alex DX32s,
these babies are terrorist proof, you can ride off anything and still keep them straight

since you're gonna be doing mad back flips, i'd say get rid of the front gears and drop in a chain guide; keep that chain on track y0!

now look at this beast, pretty heavy eh? you gotta make sure you can slow down!
next time you're doing over 15km you make sure you got your broom to stick between the spokes to stop you

YEEAAAA,
this thing is TYTE!

get ready to ride out and form your own crew.

No problem, a thanks is a good enough

learn how to drive before you know how to ride. You don't want your mom be in your funeral or hospital when you are age 17

Not trying to be an ass, I used to ride a r6 when I was in my early 20s. Know several people who lost their life like this.

Yeah. Just get your license first, finish your AE86, and then wait till you get your Class 5 before even thinking about getting your motorcycle license - whether it'd be 16 for getting the motorcycle license or not.

It's useless if you don't have the fundings for insurance - but I guess you're parents are taking care of that anyways right?

First thing, get your liscence and then go get professional instruction on how to ride.
I went to Action, which changed names a few years ago.

not trying to scare you, but Asian XL is right. Far too many people die every year from riding a motorbike. Some people because they rode their bikes like dinks, some from lack of training, and some from other drivers/riders.

They'll take care of insurance, but repairs or anything is all me.

But I think I got enough information to put this idea aside for quite a while.

THANKS RS.

get your gear, take riding lessons, do a lein search on the bike, do a history check on the bike, get the bike inspected before purchase and you're good to go!

I don't think our words can stop him from riding on a bike. When I first took
my lesson, I didn't really listened to what people told me too

In a car, you rev and stall in first gear, big deal, you start it up again.

On a bike, you rev and can't launch your bike properly, or give too much gas,
it's pretty much like rodeo. If lucky, you damage the fender flares and you
get minor scratch, if not so lucky, you will end up being under somebody's car.

Can't you get a car driver's license at 16 in BC no more? It's gonna be an L granted, but isn't the idea the same for a bike license?

Yeah but with car, you drive with some1 with class-5 right beside you.
With bike, you have to be supervised by some1 with class-6 at all times.

AND I think you can get your motorcycle "N" faster than you can get your car "N".

yeah we saved his back flipping stunt man's life. Also the title sound like he was put in a box on a bike, driven around and he did some thinking in it. "I wonder what do I think when I'm on a train....?"
