House Rental & Utilities

So, I've been looking at places with 3 bed rooms for rent. A lot if not all of them require the renters to pay 1/2 or 1/3 the utils. Which is fine. But to some of you home owners or people who are renting how does that pan out?

I mean, if I use next to nothing in the winter and find other efficient ways to keep the heat and do my part and not use a whole lot of power but the other guys use it like they don't give a shit, that would mean I would be paying more than my share of use, right?

Or are the suites monitored separately?

^ usually they(home owner) take an average and bill accordingly, or precedence such as what they charged the last tenants.

suites usually are not monitored seperately dependent on the setup of hydro.

Best to clear that with your potential landlord and ask how they calculate it.

I must be tired, I thought the topic read Horse Rental and Utilities. That would be some freaky shit.

IMO a fair way to divide utilities is by the amount of ppl under a roof.

let's say the landlord has a fam of 4...and you're renting for 3 ppl.

you pay 3/7 of the utility bill.
