| Mazda2 confirmed for Canada! http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servl...ory/WBdriving/
NEW YORK – The Mazda2, a slick little subcompact sold in Europe and Asia, is coming to Canada, confirmed Mazda Motor Corporation president and CEO Takashi Yamanouchi.
“I've just decided,” said Yamanouchi, a 42-year veteran of Mazda who assumed the top job last November.
The Globe and Mail is the first news outlet to confirm that the Mazda2 will join Mazda Canada' lineup. The announcement was not part of formal Yamanouchi's formal remarks during press days for the New York International Auto Show at the Jacob Javits Centre.
While Yamanouchi would not confirm an exact launch date, sources suggest the Mazda2 would go on sale within the next year. It is designed to compete against the Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris, Hyundai Accent and Chevrolet Aveo, among others.

Some serious resemblance with the Yaris...
With a Toyota badge, that could easily be a facelifted Yaris.

you guys need to check your eyes more often. I see this car everyday in asia, it's quite
eye catching and no whatever yaris resemblance. You should say it looks similar to
peugoet 306, but definitely not yaris.
I prefer the new Honda Fit. The back of mazda 2 doesn't look too safe when it gets rear ended.

Obviously it's not identical... but the side and three-quarter rear profile gives off some very similar body lines.

Those super small sub-compact cars don't really do it for me. But I do understand thier true purpose.

Cool, with this and the Scion xD coming to Canada in 2010, it's gonna be a great year for people choosing between sub-compacts.
