The GT2RS is an amazing car around the track if driven by someone who knows what they are doing with the car and also knows his way around the track in question.
Personally the GT3 and GT3RS i think are more fun around the track.

Speaking from personal experience I think I know what happened, for exiting turn 9 at mission in 3rd gear the turbo lag is scary and I always lifted for that turn but I can see how the power might kick in violently and the rear lost grip. In my miata it's WOT from entry to exit :P
