Spotted a wrecked 993 4s yesterday while on my way to Cannibal Cafe.

Looks like it went into a pole. The plate is BC 063 SMS, in case someone on the board come across it in the future.

I do miss mine but there are tons of other cars in the 60-70k price range.

i blame AME_VIP for making me troll the classifieds for 993's... but with you being a past owner, what do you think of these?

1995 PORSCHE 911 CARRERA C2 993

1997 PORSCHE 911 CARRERA 4S C4S 993

1996 PORSCHE 911 CARRERA 4S COUPE 993

are they really worth that much?

Honestly I think the 993 is as good as any 90s cars. The price is whatever the market will bear. One of the options I will hold out for is factory litronic. That is a deal breaker for me. If I get any car that age, I won't bother with a mechanical inspection as long as it is not a write off, but just spend the money tearing the car drive train apart for a refurbishment (thankfully like BMW, the parts are just buckets load vs other makes), even the transaxle, upgrade with a better LSD eg. Well and also the Bentley manual but that's kind of obvious coming from me.

But being now we are 20 years after the fact, there are better cars out there for the money (eg a Cayman, if you want an 90s exotic a crazy 512TR or F355?). If you want an entry level porsche, I suggest go for a 996. Especially the fried egg ones.

I feel bad for the 993, I have a suspicion it will more than likely to be a writeoff (no Collectors).

I am pretty sure the brothers on vwdov or dubberz are salivating. Though I still think it will be quite expensive at a salvage auction, since the goodies are in the back.

A friend of mine is part owner of that dealership. I might need to go test drive and get back to you. I truly don't understand the one being 90k, the C2 seems in line with pricing across the board, and if it has no stories, is on the verge of being a bargain.

Non stock steering wheel, aftermarket pedal set, shift kit, flashy audio..

Original details are what make these things expensive.. and those don't

i think among the 3, I will take the last one.. it has sports seats.

Shit I thought that was KMs, yeah that is high, as for the rest of the stuff though, buy a set of speakers for 60 bucks, and a 996 steering wheel shouldn't be the biggest deterrence. Its not like its easy to find 40k 993s anymore.

I think the silver C2 is the best deal as well. However it does have a lot of undesirable mods and is still on the factory 4x4 suspension.
All of the prices are on the high side. I've seen lots of deals on Rennlist, Craigslist, autotrader (USA) but you have to act fast. I love my 993 but I would not pay 60-70k for one. Parts are pricey and since they are 20 year old cars parts will wear out.

My car did not have litronic which is fine with me. If the igniter or ballast goes it is $600 for the combo (only sold together). Mine came with aftermarket HID. My car has 165kms. Engine resealed, clutch and brakes done at 125kms. Transmission replaced due to syncro failure with a 26km unit at 164km before I bought the car. My car is close to stock. HID, trickle charger, ROW M033 springs, drilled air box and Porsche aluminum shifter knob.

Painful to see the crashed C4S

Since this is now the 993 page, here are some pics from AutoX on Sunday here in Victoria.

On second look, it looks like the driver seat is not period correct either.

For cars like this, honestly getting a Collector's plate is a no brainer.. ICBC will use a normal depreciation calculation.

That Speciale looks heavily spec'd. I'm guessing over $425k MSRP?

You're right that is a 996 seat and steering wheel.

Correct me if I am wrong but the 993 is not low enough production to qualify for collector plates so I need to wait until it is 25 years old?

It depends on which model.. 993 were made over 4 years.. eg Cabrio are known to be low number at certain years.. The last year, 1998 were mainly c2s, so a c4s that year will be rare, especially a cabrio. I think in general a C4 should be collectors regardless of age.

Remember Porsche was nearly bankrupt then, that's why production were so low as they were trying to conserve cash.
