GTR "VDC Launch control" controversy explained

I won't voice my opinion on this hotly debated issue, but I feel this video explains everything, and from what I understand after watching this video the cliffnotes are.

--the term "Launch Control" doesn't even exist to Nissan, it's something the North American market made up.

--The VDC was NEVER meant to be used for launching a car, it specifically says so in the manual, and it's there to help you out of snow or mud

I think for 2009 GTR they just underestimated how people were going to use this car and didn't make it clear enough in their user manual, for the 2010 GTR it's revised down to the letter.
Be sure to watch the WHOLE video and READ carefully to what he's saying, it basically explains everything.

sounds like the Nissan lawyers are twisting words and re-interpreting the whole system.

^^ Yes

Come on. They expected people to use that feature recreationally but didn't expect people to go crazy with it. Now they're backpedalling to cover their asses and get out of warrant repairs.

It's good to hear they revised the so called "launch control" in the 2010 model.

lol and what would you do with it? Keep it in the garage?

the GTR is meant to be a daily driver. If you have driven one you'll know what I mean.

But it's got tires that you can't change without voiding the warranty unless you go back to the dealer... WTF?

Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.

If it was never meant to be used that way, why did they let countless magazines use the term launch control, as well as use the feature for testing, without having them print corrections/ retractions whatever. They could have curbed the problem before they sold the first unit.

I stayed in some of the northern prefectures of Japan and people drive their GTRs all year round, even in the worst snow conditions. They just mount winter tires.

That's true. I haven't seen any R35s with snowies, but I've seen R34s with snowtires!

I think there's 1 very important facts that always get overlooked and is worth mentioning

The GTR keeps getting compared to cars that are in a different category, like high end exotics that are mostly hand built. Cars that are purpose built with not much else in mind except for speed, and to be lightweight high HP track monsters. While the GTR was built to own the track, it's also an excellent daily driver. It's no wonder they call it the mini Veyron, because a Veyron was built to be the exact same thing, high HP but so easy to drive, your mom can drive it to the grocery store.

Even though the GTR holds it's own, most of the time even besting these cars, I still don't think it's a fair comparison for a car that weighs almost 4000 pounds with a driver inside, while the rest of these cars usually have more HP and weight just over 3000 lbs.

Here's a vid of All Season Testing they did in Japan. Now I could be wrong, but since it only makes sense to test tires that will be sold with the car, I'm going to assume that in this vid, the tires aren't any different from what you would get straight from the showroom floor.

and here's a video that actually shows you what the VDC R Mode was apparently meant for, you see the guy driving it and drifting in snow with the VDC off, test was done with optional snow tires
