Can you pass Aircare with a Aftermarket Turbo'd Car?

With the aircare program in the lower mainland, can you still pass aircare with a, say Turbo'd S2000? Any condition to make it pass ? CEL and OBDII communication a problem ? please share your opinion

If it's an OBD2 vehicle, and you're able to make sure that the port can communicate with Aircare's computers, then it's fine... provided everything is running without a problem.

If it's a pre-OBD2 vehicle, so long as the car is tuned properly, yes.

Yep, like everyone else mentioned. OBD0/OBD1/OBD2A, then make sure it has a cat, no CEL, and tuned properly to pass aircare. For OBD2B, make sure your ECU throws no codes, and also communicate with their machines.

I've passed AirCare, it took about 8 tries but I passed.

I have to re-tune the car mid summer to go through it again

Not only that, but if you do decide to turbo your car, or buy a car with one already, just be sure to give yourself plenty of time to get through aircare!

If you wonder if your car will pass, or have doubts, get tested a couple months in advance (before your insurance expires!). That leaves tons of time to fix any problems, should there be any.

^ which only works with older cars.. if you have an OBD2 car, then they don't even roller the car anymore... they just plug into your OBD2 port and see if it's throwing any codes and all of the monitors are properly set. If not, insta-fail!

He's got an '02. He will pass the computer plug in no problem, just possibly fail if they throw him on the rollers. Working at a dealership, I've taken a bunch of cars through aircare, and normally the 1st year of aircare cars just get plugged in and sent out. One occasion though, they have thrown the car on the rollers. One of the techs had his 2002 GMC truck on the rollers, so just to play it safe he's going to slam his ride more-so than it already is now.

No, 96-98 they roll thru the rollers. 98-99+ they don't go through rollers. OBD2A/OBD2B

Some of these "loopholes" can really fuck you up the ass when you get into an accident and ICBC finds out.
