Ladies: Situation

Here's an interesting situation I observed today:

Goes something like this.
You (the girl) meet up with a couple of friends (mixed gender group).
One of the guys in that group brought another guy that you know OF, but never talked to.

You drop a $10 bill that night and he picks it up for you.
You're informed that he will drop it off by your workplace (you're a waitress at a restaurant he goes to often) the next time he swings by for lunch--as a completely friendly and non-predatory thing.

So here's the scenario:
If when he drops it off, he says to you "This is for last night/week/time",
what would your typical reaction be?

Cliche, I know. But this is the first time I've seen somebody do this, and she seemed to be impressed by his remark. But I want to see the opinions of others on this one.

Thanks in advance,
-Physixx

P.S. Guys can chime in on this one too, maybe somebody will have an interesting opinion. Thanks :)

My reaction: "I think you owed me more than that ;)"

That is, if I wanted to flirt with him.

i think this is merely nothing more than a good ice breaker... nothing more

you mean a 10$ bill as in just 10 dollars? why would she care about 10$. i mean its nice but seems overly nice, like almost creepy. that said, im not a girl, so what do I know, but its probably something i can see blowing up in my face if i tried.

+Kardboard+ 05-12-2009 09:52 AM

Well-played, tacky, and really depends on the person. Some epic reading there? hahaha :lol

That's a very elaborate version of Deniro's Taxi Driver move.

IF by happenstance he sees the same girl at a restaurant and he pulls the move (without planning prior), then that's Cool Beans, but if he had to fabricate the whole charade from the get go, then no, it's not a very good move.

Just to be clear, did she actually drop the $10 bill? I understood the move to be wholly fabricated.

"thank you"

liu13 05-12-2009 03:16 PM

u went out of your way to go to her workplace to drop off 10$?

at least she can say thank you and go back to work

asian_XL 05-12-2009 08:28 PM

If I were a girl, I would think you are a weirdtard.

good ice breaker, but still you are a weirdtard

BabyblooLexus 05-12-2009 08:34 PM

id LOL and then sarcastically "gross." if the guy is foogly then i'd just nervously/uncomfortably "lol"

Nintensity 05-12-2009 11:15 PM

He'd go out all the way just to drop off 10 dollars means that he's just a nice guy and doing a good deed.
as a completely friendly and non-predatory thing.

I'd say thank you and see how he would follow up after he gave the bill to me. If he doesn't make a move, then its not worth my time staring at him where I should be going back to work and doing my job.

joolee 05-12-2009 11:52 PM

the guy must have a lot of time on his hands LOL

ShanghaiKid 05-13-2009 03:14 AM

^he's going for lunch, not wasting his time. 10 bucks is 10 bucks, id like to get the 10 bucks i drop back, even if its not really that much money anyway.

what a nice guy

BallPeenHammer 05-13-2009 10:22 AM

If that happened to me, I'd drop off the 10 bucks anyway, even if I didn't want to go after the girl.
It's a good deed, good karma, and you never know if that person will actually need that $10!

God knows I'd be super appreciative of someone doing that for me.

I wasn't there when the first half of the event occurred, but yes, she apparently "dropped" $10.

I know $10 isn't exactly an amount to fuss over, but money is money, and $10 will get you a good meal.

And he didn't exactly go out of his way--like I mentioned, the restaurant is almost like a daily hangout for us.
