Manny Pacquiao

Wife just came home from the Philippines, and she said he is admired over there like a god.

Who is he? and what does he do.

edit: lightweight boxer.. is he pro- semi-pro?

Apparently the crime rate goes down in the Philippines when he fights - that's how popular he is.

An international professional at his level doesn't even come once a generation from the philippines....thats why he's treated like a god.

He's part Greek, part Filipino. I agree, he's second in line to popularity in the Philippines, dunno about the pro pool players though.

if/when pacquiao fights mayweather, and beats him, i think he will absolutely be ranked near the top all time. however he never really has had the draw and fanfare of some of the more popular boxers.
