RCMP Forensic Laboratory

I actually just spoke with Dr. Hildebrand of BCIT's Forensic department. I have 2 years of post-secondary credits to put towards the Forensic Science degree (B. Tech) and he was explaining to me it might be a better route to finish my BSc. and then take come take the certificate program instead. This is because on the RCMP website it states that you need a BSc to land a position. The B.Tech at BCIT carried a grad research project as well.

Dr. Hildebrand just wanted me to understand these requirements and to make sure I'm competitive with other applicants when they apply for a job with the RCMP. Any more information would be very helpful! Thanks.

Well, if you are interested in working in one of the labs, you would be applying for a civilian member position, not a regular member position. Did you follow the right recruiting link on the national site?

yup, i know exactly what position(s) i would be applying for, I'm just curious if they want a B.Sc, or if a B.Tech would do since it's a specialized program for Forensics.

Generally, the job postings (of which there are none at the moment) state the necessary qualifications for the position. You will have to contact a recruiter to find out more.
