Front License Plate

Hello

I understand it is illegal to not have a front license plate in Vancouver, but what about a front license plate located on the dash/front window part?
Or maybe a piece of paper with your plate# taped to the front window?

Thanks

What About Bending It?
I Have A Friend That Bent It So It Fits In The Bumper, You Can Still Read The Plate.

No, the ticket for modifying the plate is more expensive than not having one at all.

plus, it looks TACKY.

CRS 06-16-2009 11:42 PM

Ok, any kind of modification to the license plate is ILLEGAL.

Moving it to any other part of your vehicle other than the front is ILLEGAL.

Trying to hide your license plate is ILLEGAL.

Relocating to one corner is ok right?

You answered your own thread.

Plate on the dash or anywhere else it's not supposed to be = $196 fine.

No front plate at all, and not somewhere it's not supposed to be = $109 fine.

A piece of paper on the window only works with temporary insurance.

It's not your plate to bend. It remains the property of ICBC.

That's it, I am sending them a bill for requiring me to keep their property clean.

sho_bc 07-02-2009 05:01 AM

The dealer, ebay, craigslist, etc etc etc.

Alpine50 07-03-2009 01:55 AM

i heard you dont even need a front plate on your car, that cops cant really do anything about it.
that they do it for no reason, apparently this chick told me that her friends dads a cop and said that you dont have to the only reason is if you get into an accident your license is visible from front or back

this true??

sho_bc 07-03-2009 02:01 AM

I heard that monkeys have wings and can fly to the moon and back in less than 2 minutes. Is that true?

Just kidding, but do you really think that police really hand out tickets for a made-up law with a made-up section # and made-up fine and have been doing so/getting away with it for years without any sort of public backlash? I'd think that when people went to pay for the ticket and got told that the ticket was bogus, they'd spread the word and it would have at least made the various local newspapers.

zulutango 07-03-2009 06:09 AM

Tell you what, why not drive your car over to see me, just as it is with no front plate. Bring the chick who's dad is a cop...and tell her to bring some cash so you can pay the ticket. She may be able to answer the question..."why do they sell you 2 plates...and give you instructions that the val tag has to go on the "rear" plate, if you only need the rear one". Noting like getting legal advice that could cost you $$$ if it incorrect....from a chick whose dad is a cop. Gotta go with that!

Soundy 07-03-2009 07:34 AM

I love it, I'm gonna start telling everyone that the speed limits are bogus, and I know this for a fact because my girlfriend's cousin's great-grandfather's dog's breeder is a cop and he said so!
