pleasure/work insurance

Which one would cost more? Pleasure use only or work only?

work/school would cost more than pleasure driving.. but its not that much more .. better to be safe than have them deny a claim because you bought the wrong rate class / category

if you live close to work you can ask for the driving to/from work within 15km

Quote:

How your rate class affects your premiums

Your Autoplan premium is affected by the way you use your vehicle. ICBC’s categories for the different vehicle uses are called “rate classes". It is important to discuss the correct rate class with your broker, because being in the wrong rate class may breach your coverage and make you personally responsible for any claims. There are more than 150 rate classes but the most common are:

* Commuting — Driving to work or school
* Pleasure — Allows you to drive to work or school for a maximum of six days a month
* Business — Driving for business purposes
* Delivery — Driving for delivery

It is your responsibility to ensure that your vehicle is correctly rated. Your Autoplan broker can help you determine the proper rate class.
How much do they cost?

The rate classes determine various premiums because they categorize different uses of vehicles. The premiums reflect the amount of time you spend on the road and the different conditions you drive in. Put simply, the more likely you are to be in a crash, the higher your premium will be.
The message here is, when you go to renew your insurance, ask the Autoplan agent - they can tell you then which will apply and which will cost you less.
